Software Test Engineer

Job Description

Contagious Solutions is seeking a Test Engineer to join a highly visible Agile software development project for a government client. This resource will be responsible for creating, maintaining and expanding test cases for one or more scrum teams to help validate business requirements and ensure high quality deliverables for our client.

Responsibilities:

• Independently identify test scenarios based on business requirements discussed in Sprint planning and Backlog grooming and work with the BA and Scrum Master to capture test User Stories in Jira
• Perform multiple forms of testing (manual and automation) using Postman, SOAPUI, JavaScript, Java, etc
• Document test cases and results in Confluence
• Troubleshoot and mitigate issues; suggest fixes where applicable and tracking issues through mitigation
• Facilitate testing improvements by recommending best practices, supporting other testers and sharing knowledge of test tools.
• Automate test scripts using JavaScript, Java and Postman so they can quickly be referenced and re-executed with minimal human intervention
• Integrate test scripts on the CI/CD pipeline using SauceLabs, Selenium and/or Newman
• Participate in lower environment integration testing and production deployment verification testing efforts
• Participate in all Agile ceremonies (ex: planning, retrospectives, demos, grooming and daily stand ups)
• Demonstrate work produced to internal team members and the client

Skills & Requirements

• 3+ years of related professional experience with test automation technologies
• Must have basic SQL knowledge
• Must have experience testing SOAP and REST APIs
• Must have test experience with Postman, SOAPUI, JSON and XML
• Must have strong communication skills with the ability to work in a collaborative environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of Agile Scrum methodology, DevOps, and Continuous Builds, a plus.
