Data Scientist (Contract) (Remote)

Arundo is a software company based in Oslo, Norway; Houston, TX; and Palo Alto, CA, with presence in 6 locations in Europe and the Americas. Our software enables advanced analytics, machine learning, and IoT applications for more efficient, safer, and more effective physical systems in heavy industries such as energy, chemicals, maritime, renewables and OEMs. Founded in 2015, Arundo currently consists of around 40 software engineers, data scientists, designers, and industrial domain experts.

We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to take a core role in developing prescriptive and predictive data-driven equipment monitoring solutions in partnership with an existing customer. This is a temporary position, approximately 3 months duration, with potential to convert to full time based on performance and Arundo's ongoing business needs. The preferred candidate will have proven experience in applying machine learning and statistical data analytics in a business setting using time series data sources. The ability to self organize and work independently within a project team is a must. Our customer is based in the Greater Houston area and the engagement will require some on-site interaction so we are not able to consider full remote candidates. We take personal safety very seriously, and will ensure that during any physical client engagement all personal safety requirements will be followed in accordance with HSE policies as well as local government recommended practices.

• Participation in data collection and data quality validation for a series of experiments being run at the client's facility
• Extracting value from data via statistical and machine learning methods while working closely with the client's subject matter experts
• Communicating analysis results to customer stakeholders via presentations and formal reports

Academic

• A degree in computer science, statistics, physics, engineering or a related field with focus on data analysis and modeling. A graduate degree or comparable experience in industry is preferred.
  

Technical skills and work experience

• You have min. 2+ years of experience applying data science in a business setting
• You have min. 2+ years of experience in applying statistical analysis techniques to time-series data
• You have a strong familiarity with statistics and machine learning fundamentals
• You have solid experience with Python DS libraries (pandas, scikit-learn etc.)
• You have experience with standard open source data science tools such as Jupyter, SQL, and git and collaborative software tools such as GitHub
• You have the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• You have the ability to self organize and work independently within a project team

• Previous experience in heavy industries (e.g. oil & gas, maritime, renewables, power, manufacturing, etc.)
• Signal processing and vibration analysis experience
• Experience with SaaS product development
• Professional software development experience in a team setting
• Experience with anomaly detection techniques
• Deep learning experience
