A PHP Developer is required for our client based in Leeds for an initial 4 month contract (with possible extension to 6 months).
Our client is working on migrating its large and complex web presence from different platforms to a single enterprise web content management system. Given the scale of this project, they are looking for a senior PHP developer to join the software development team for 4 months in order to complete the migration.
What you'll be doing:
- Developing new functionality and custom content types for the content management system, Jadu;
- Improving user experience: enhanced filtering, search, mobile experience;
- Optimising page load times and quality of the code;
- Working with the vendor (Jadu) to upgrade software (Jadu CMS, Jadu XFP).
Essential experience:
- Previous experience of either software engineering, technical consulting or technical CMS implementations;
- Enterprise-level CMS development experience with systems such as Jadu, Typo3, Drupal, Contensis, TerminalFOUR;
- Strong PHP skills, ability to analyse, audit and improve existing code;
- Adherence to best practices and coding standards, ability to produce high-quality maintainable code;
- Experience working with version control systems such as GIT;
- Experience of developing customisations for enterprise-level content management systems: modules, plugins, custom content types, backend user interface customisations;
- Understanding of usability principles, Web Accessibility and GDPR regulations.
- Extensive experience of developing systems and programs using a range of technologies and languages;
- Experience of effectively designing technical solutions to meet requirements specifications;
- Experience of writing system documentation including functional and system design specifications;
- Experience of working with Test colleagues to support the design and deployment of system testing plans;
Desirable:
- Experience of working with search engine platforms such as Funnelback, including designing metadata schemes and optimizing site search performance across multiple websites;
- Experience of developing faceted search with Apache Solr;
- Front-end development expertise: HTML/CSS, JavaScript/jQuery, user interface design;
- Experience of complex system upgrades requiring planned downtime;
- Experience of developing mobile apps and mobile-friendly websites;
Knowledge of WordPress, SharePoint, Azure DevOps (VSTS).
