Contract Length: 12 month

Sector: Transportation

Location: Remote

Rate: Up to £500 a day (PAYE) dependent on skills and experience

IR35: Inside IR35

The role:

Software Development

• Leads on the technical implementation of applications and technical designs including producing cost and timescale estimates and identifying risks. On larger projects works within a technical framework of the project to meet customer requirements.
• Software development using both recognised and/or specialist programming languages and technologies
• Unit Testing of developed applications
• Technical planning within the team
• Mentoring junior developers
• Working collaboratively supporting and learning from team members
• Conduct code reviews for quality assurance

Essential Requirements:

• Fluency and experience in CA GEN in a UNIX environment (minimum 5 years)
• Experience of using SQL with an Oracle (or equivalent) database (Minimum 2 years)
• Fluency in the use of WebLogic and Enterprise Java
• Competence in the support of public cloud hosted systems
• Experience of assisting business analysts or business representatives to formalise or clarify requirements (minimum 2 years)
• Experience in the production of low level technical designs and documentation (minimum 3 years)
• Experience in definition and execution of formal unit tests (minimum 3 years)
• Experience in mentoring Developers
• Experience in system support and continuous improvement
• Strong analytical skills
• Excellent written communication skills including reports, and technical specifications
• Ability to communicate effectively to customers at all levels of the business

Desirable:

• Experience of working within an agile system development methodology particularly Scrum
• Experience of writing UNIX scripts (working knowledge of C and KORN shell scripting) (minimum 1 year)
• Experience of writing PL/SQL scripts on a UNIX platform (minimum 1 year)
• Experience of GEN development on an AIX (IBM) platform (minimum 1 year)
• Fluency in the use of modern variants of the Java language
• Proficiency with web mark-up languages, HTML, CSS and SASS
• Proficiency of batch scheduling tools
• Proficiency in the use of cloud based PaaS
