JOB SUMMARY
We are currently seeking an experienced SharePoint Developer to join Geospatially Enabled Operational Design (GEOD) Team supporting the Army Engineer and Research Development Center (ERDC) Geospatial Research Lab (GRL) located in Alexandria, VA. This position requires the selected individual to function in a full-time capacity as a Software Developer working the SharePoint entry portal for strategic military planning software. We are looking for an experienced, innovative individual that can assist with the integration of the SharePoint portal to customized 3rd party software given a myriad of environment, connectivity, security, and data factors and constraints. The candidate will function as part of a team of approximately 15 programmers distributed across 3 squads. The candidate is expected to analyze proposed feature concepts and ideas and convert into requirement specifications, and generate code to support prototype development. GEOD software resides on our client’s Microsoft infrastructure and core Microsoft business solutions, as well as virtual environments built on Microsoft operating systems using JBoss application servers. These environments include, but are not limited to: Active Directory, GPO management, Server 2012/2016, Microsoft SQL Server. Compensation will be based on relevant qualifications and experience with flexibility for on-site and remote working conditions (must be in the commuting distance).

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
This position requires the selected individual to function in a full-time on-site capacity as a SharePoint Software Developer in support of Map-Based Planning Services (MBPS)/GEOD and related geospatial science and engineering. Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Work independently and as a member of a multiple functional, dynamic team
  • Develop solutions to complex problems in creative and effective ways by analyzing existing programs and new systems.
  • Devises logic and coding for complex issues where analysis of situation or data require an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Maintain/document/update server configuration for SharePoint and SharePoint web parts
  • Maintain/document/update custom SharePoint web parts that are used by the Map Based Planning System
  • Maintain/add/update SharePoint lists needed for Map-Based Planning Project
  • Maintain/update/support Timer Job used to create users for the Map-Based Planning Project
  • Maintain/update/support Custom Search Part used by the Joint Planning System
  • Provide technical assistance to set up production environment

THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED

  • Microsoft SharePoint developer/technology specialist certification(s)
  • Developmental Languages, e.g., C#, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, XML
  • Microsoft Operating Systems/application, Visual Studio, SQL database server, and SharePoint designer software tool experience
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience
  • Secret clearance eligible
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision or guidance and have mastered time-management and organizational skills to meet deadlines and schedules; including setting priorities; establishing effective relationships; being attentive to detail.

THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree (computer science/engineering preferred)
  • Army specific environment experience
  • Agile Development work environment experience

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour
