Lead Java Developer |6 month contract |£700 - £750 per day – Outside IR35 - Remote
Understanding Recruitment are currently working in partnership with a super design agency who build major digital products and platforms for large scale businesses.
We are currently looking for a UK based Tech Lead (Java) to work on an initial 6 month assignment which sits outside IR35.
As the hands-on Java Tech Lead you will be leading a team of developers and play a key role in driving new features with the aim of scaling their product offering.
Responsibilities:
- Be hands on with development teams, you'll understand what good code looks like and see the bigger picture, taking architecture into consideration with a DevOps mindset.
- Remain hands on with code, with a clear progression path to become more senior in your field without the responsibility of managing a team.
- Working closely with Development & Project Managers to create and execute development plans.
- Writing functional specifications and technical specifications.
- Researching, designing, and coding technical solutions.
- Performance evaluation and management of team members.
- Reviewing and continuously improving the development and testing processes and practices to guarantee on-time and high-quality delivery.
- Training and mentoring team members
Experience needed for the position:
- Current/previous Java Team/Technical leadership.
- Extensive experience in Java along with a good knowledge of infrastructure aspects.
- Experience working with Kotlin.
- Backend software engineering experience across, SpringBoot, AWS, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes.
- Agile experience such as TDD/BDD, Pair Programming, XP.
- Practical understanding of continuous Integration and deployment.
- Working knowledge in microservices architecture, extracting microservices from a legacy codebase.
- Proven experience in incident handling / fixing prod environments along with experience of maintain legacy applications.
- In-depth knowledge of Java application performance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
