Data Analyst/SQL Developer (Remote)

Position Description:

We are looking for an experienced SQL Server developer/analyst with reporting/dashboard experience who is interested in working with a talented core team enhancing and maintaining a high-performance, data-driven software platform for the healthcare industry. You will participate in designing, developing, implementing, enhancing and supporting a number of back-end services to ingest, organize, analyze and present large volumes insurance claims and hospital data.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and support software including applications, database integration, interfaces, and new functionality enhancements.
  • Follow SDLC process and work closely with stakeholders to understand and provide feedback on complex functional requirements, identify gaps and technical limitations, propose solutions and workarounds, and formalize solutions in technical design documents, followed by coding, unit, and integration testing.
  • Develop applications using the current, up-to-date, and industry standard tool sets. This would include continuous improvement methods to support and align technology and our Internal Development Environment (IDE) with the business needs and produce timely and accurate results in support of these business needs.
  • Develop quality control measures, testing measures, and the accuracy of data standards to support the deployment of solutions for the businesses in IT.
  • Automate current manual tasks.
  • Translate initiatives into actions through a thoughtful, organized, and well-planned approach. Establish measurement criteria and systems to track daily processes, implementation of new initiatives, and value creation.
  • Help steer technical decisions about infrastructure and architecture.
  • Take ownership of issues to quickly uncover root cause and develop the right solution aligning with enterprise standards and guidance.
  • Document work using existing standardized documents and detailed updates to facilities such as Issue Management and Project Task-tracking systems.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of programming experience on the Microsoft technology stack including SQL Server, SSRS, and SSIS.
  • Deep understanding of data modeling and the use of data modeling tools.
  • Strong experience using development tools including Microsoft Visual Studio, SSDT, and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
  • Solid understanding of software engineering and processes (i.e. design patterns, algorithms, data structures, schemas and queries, system design, unit testing, code reviews, Agile, and DevOps).
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • History of successful software design and development and utilization of latest technologies.
  • Excellent query-writing capabilities utilizing advanced techniques such as stored procedure and functions, CTEs, and PIVOTs.
  • Strong experience integrating loosely-coupled systems, both internally and externally, utilizing API’s and file-based integration methods.
  • Experience with the intricacies of sharing healthcare information and system processes to authorized external consumers and/or providers, including the creation of proprietary API’s, HIPAA security concerns, and healthcare data standards such as HL7.
  • Experience building and operating mission critical cloud software services and an understanding of design for scalability, performance, security, and reliability.
  • BS/MS in computer science or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing reports and dashboards on technologies such as Tableau, Power BI, and SSRS.
  • Healthcare domain background (especially as it relates to insurance claims).
  • Experience using Red Gate toolset.
  • Experience in database administration and data warehousing.

Position Conditions:

This position requires hours that may exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week during times of peak activity. Evening and/or weekend work is sometimes required to ensure timely project completion and/or for production support. Moderate to high job pressure exists in the balancing of several projects with conflicting and sometimes changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
