Job Description:

Senior Access and SQL Server Developer needed for 2 – 3 months to assist our direct client with migration and support of legacy Access/SQL Server applications. This is a remote position working onsite as needed in Evansville, IN.

Responsibilities:

  • Migrate an existing complex and highly customized Access system from Access 95/97 to Access 2013/2016 including Access Forms, Reports, Queries, as well as integration with outside applications, scanners, and printers with SQL as a backend
  • Develop workarounds for unsupported features in the newer version of Access present in the existing application
  • Test upgraded application thoroughly
  • Work with business areas to define and coordinate user acceptance testing
  • Implement and support business area during user testing phase of project
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues uncovered during user testing and post-production support
  • Create implementation plan for seamless roll out across multiple databases, PCs, and servers.
  • Deploy upgraded application to individual PCs
  • Provide post production support as needed following deployment
  • Provide detailed status reports to project managers, including estimated time remaining
  • Efficiently manage time between multiple clients and projects
  • Consistently meet project milestones and agreed upon deadlines
  • Ability to work onsite Evansville, IN when needed
  • Weekly hours may vary depending on current phase of the project and assigned tasks. Expect 40 hours/week starting out and then could vary after initial migration and testing.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of enterprise level MS Access development and administration experience
  • Experience with:
    • Maintaining applications utilizing MS Access as the front end with MS SQL Server as the backend
    • Upgrading Access applications from older versions to more recent versions; including Access 95/97
    • Creating and migrating VBA code and stored procedures
    • Creating and troubleshooting Access reports
    • Administering and developing with SQL Server 2008, including stored procedures
    • Maintaining multi-database systems in Access deployed on PCs and servers
    • Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to quickly jump into existing complex systems and understand logic
  • Strong communications skills
  • Experience working with Access deployments to individual PCs, servers, or virtual machines.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate user acceptance testing and implementation of a multi-database system migration
