Performance Expectations

  • Network Engineer/Network Architect: Both roles have the same base skillset (More LAN than WAN))
  • Critical skill: The resource must have documented network rollout/site migration exp (site design & implementation)- both resources:
  • Architect will have more significantly more design experience than Engineer. The customer is asking for the Engineer to have some design experience.
  • Critical Skill: Aruba-WLAN (Cisco ISE is secondary option)
  • Critical Skill: The Architect must have documented experience creating site designs in Visio corresponding with site migrations/upgrades.

- (1 person on the team needs documented Firewall migration & implementation experience + have experience with policies (pref. Palo Alto but can be Cisco or Juniper

- Critical skill: LAN (pref. Aruba but can be others)-CRITICAL (HP Switch)

  • FYI: There are 50 to 100 LAN Switches per site-All Aruba. The resource needs documented experience with LAN switch migrations-Aruba is highly preferred

- The resource must have documented Aruba WLAN (Aruba preferred but can be others..)

- Any documented SD WAN is a bonus. (there is not a lot of people w/ this skills & so it's a nice to have)- not critical (Only 2 devices out of 100 devices are related to SD WAN)

  • Typical Day:
  • Architect: Based on site survey data, this resource creates/builds the site design in Visio based on the standard network guidelines
  • Review design requirements and analyzes:

o How many closets does the site have?

o Use general network standards to make create the design

Engineer: This resource would test the design based on the Architect’s creation….verify space available, placement of hardware & check modifications of design/edit. Then communicate back any recommendations to the Architect help prepare the site for the implementation/migration
