Lead Ruby on Rails Developer

We are looking for a Lead Ruby on Rails developer working on a 1099 basis. Please read carefully.

The ‘lead developer’ in this case means ‘leadership’ in the classic sense of the word, and not necessarily the most senior technologist. There are two full-time senior technologists on the team who will be at your disposal. Requirements for leadership, including the following responsibilities:

• Communication with the client and project management team to digest and understand business requirements.
• Participation in requirements gathering and solutions planning.
• Availability (9-5/M-F) for troubleshooting problems in production, or doing research to answer questions
• Owning deadlines, delivery, and quality assurance
• Assigning tasks to yourself and other team members based on a solid understanding of availability and skillsets.
• System administration tasks such as patching, permissions management, the configuration of servers, firewall, FTP, AD, etc....
• Source control management and deployment

This Gig is long term with about 40 hours per week every week. This will be a good gig for someone who wants to be self-employed, as it’s on a 1099 basis. This gig will require a very high level of availability on your part. Expect to be connected by SLACK to the rest of the team throughout the workday. Expect to be on the phone with the client often. Be available to get on the phone or live meeting to resolve urgent issues that may come up from time to time. This availability and willingness to jump in and solve problems is key to success in this position.

Required Skills

Skills or technologies you must have experience with before joining the team. A level of mastery is required in these skills and/or technologies.

• Ruby on Rails with extensive experience
• JavaScript, MySQL, Linux, Docker, CSS, HTML
• Understanding the principals of object-oriented programming
• Understanding the principals of Source ControlSecondary nice-to-have

Skills or technologies that will be required but can be learned on the job, with the help of other developers already assigned to this client.

• Google Cloud
• React, Node.js

The application is mostly completed, and we need help to bring the final product to completion. Project to last until early 2020 with the possibility to turn into additional long-term work.
