Our client is looking for two experienced Developers to join their multidiscipline team, focused on developing and supporting GIS products. The key outcome of the role is the development of new products and retiring legacy systems. The opportunity will be fully remote for the foreseeable, with part of the week spent in either the Edinburgh or Glasgow office in the future. The role is an initial 6 month contract, deemed out of scope of IR35 and is a great opportunity for experienced developers to use the latest tech – including Java 11 and AWS.
Key Objectives § Continued enhancement and development of GIS Mapping projects § Demonstrate exceptional software development practice that delivers highly readable, maintainable, and appropriate artefacts. § Routinely use collaborative development practices § Ensure that developed software complies with non-functional requirements § Implement high-quality support processes, dashboards, monitoring and deployment capabilities § Actively participating in all team events and supporting the team to continually improve § Engage with the wider communities of practice to share best practice § Ensure high quality of developed solutions through development and maintenance of unit tests – § Successful migration of spatial data from on premise systems to AWS/S3
Technology stack • Java /11+ • Spring boot Microservices • Spring Security and OAuth2 • JavaScript UI frameworks, including OpenLayers and React • Python 2.7/3.x • OpenShift • Postgres/PostGIS • GeoServer, JTS, GeoTools • QGis plugin development • Modern DevOps and CI/CD practices including deployment pipelines and Jenkins
