As the Lead Data Scientist acting as a Full Stack Developer, you will oversee system integration and bridge data in vertical industries related to freight transportation and earth observation. In designing your own work hours on a part-time basis, you are responsible for providing expertise in acquiring, processing, managing, exploiting geospatial datasets. Supported on a project by project basis under a federal grant, you are the Lead Technical Researcher, a crucial component of our team, who conducts work on the forefront of science to guide the creation of a global external partnership organization. The purpose of this role is to lead technical efforts and systems integration in vertical industries to collectively resolve multibillion-dollar deficits to national economies.

As a prime and subcontractor, we are an early-stage startup that is pushing the envelope of science by uniting ideas, researchers, and passions together with highly credible, cost-effective, sustainable innovations.

Responsibilities

  • 5+ years of experience in data science, software integration, systems engineering, etc.
  • Familiarization with GEOINT, satellite imagery, transportation analytics, UX/IX design
  • Create, manage, and lead all operations related to feature extraction, data processing, interpretation
  • Collaborate with lead data scientists in the transportation sector across U.S.
  • Analyze, manage and fuse data from multiple sources
  • Collaborate as an author or contributor in the editing and development of various scientific literature, white paper(s), and publication(s) in the Journals of Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT), Applied Earth Observation and Geoinformation, Remote sensing, Transportation Science, etc.

Preferred Skillset

  • Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Geospatial Analysis, or technical field
  • Proven track record exceeding in database management, data science, and visualization
  • Expertise in imagery collection analysis, planning, and cross-functional team collaboration in the research environment
  • Fluid competency with programming languages, such as Java, C/C++, Python, etc.
  • Capability to write production-level code and to explain in the scientific literature
  • Experience utilizing GIS modeling/simulation tools (e.g., ArcGIS, Systems Tool Kit (STK), etc.)
  • Familiarization with GEOINT, satellite imagery, space and satellite radar systems, cross-sector communication with partners, research studies, publication environment, scientific literature, and Journals
