Overview:[
DevOps Chef Engineer will be a technical expert for the DevOps ecosystem & DevOps practices within the organization, providing solutions and technical guidance aligned with AFS program objectives. This team member will lead the Sector's IT DevOps Strategy by establishing DevOps Tools, Processes and Onboarding/Training Materials for Project Startups. Experience with implementing DevOps/DevSecOps within cloud and traditional environments. Experience with FISMA and/or NIST 800-53 Rev4 security controls and assessments is a plus. Experience with the Chef/Habitat/NSpect suite of tools a plus.
Develop, configure and administer DevOps and IT automation solutions. Understand and remediate complex issues and topologies of large enterprise. Evaluation and integration of IT systems and development tools, and replace where needed. Identify and address system performance bottlenecks in high availability environments. Provide technical support to IT ops around automation solution usage.

Skills
5-8 years Operations & Automation experience using DevOps tools required, including command line. Chef, Puppet and Jenkins are a Plus.
Knowledge of Perl, Ruby, Python, shell scripting (e.g. PowerShell)
Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Red Hat Linux
Strong knowledge of Cloud technologies required
Experience with DevOps or DevSecOps required
Must be detail oriented, highly organized and process driven
Familiarity with cyber security concepts and nomenclature, preferred
Must have strong written and oral communication skills
Must have strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Must be creative and have the ability to understand and work with complex and abstract concepts
Knowledge of FISMA/NIST 800-53 Rev4 and HIPAA security controls and assessments preferred
Good, clear communication and ability to brief Executive leadership
Ability to train and grow DevOps staff
Education
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent preferred
