*The Opportunity:*
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Web Developer to join our Cancer Ageing and Somatic Mutation (CASM) team on a fixed term contract for 12 months initially with the possibility of extension. This is a great opportunity for a Web Developer to work in an environment that supports your career development. and work closely with other members of the Sanger web team to assess the requirements of users and implement robust solutions.

*About the role:*
You will design and implement a new web application that provides patient outcome predictions in blood cancers. The current algorithms for calculating prognostic predictions are implemented in R with a shiny based website. You will be involved within the creation of a new web interface that allows external users to input data and for the website to provide personalised predictions calculated in R. The website may follow the style of the Predict breast and Predict prostate websites that have been built by the Winton institute.

*Essential Skills*
•In depth expertise in R programming language
•In depth experience of modern front-end web development
•Expertise in JavaScript
•Expertise in HTML
•Expertise in CSS
•Ability to understand complex analytical requirements & propose useful solutions
•Ability to communicate effectively internally and externally
•Ability to work independently and organise own workload

*Ideal Skills*
•Experience in React, jQuery, or similar
•Experience in Server/service management
•Interest in using CI/CD and TDD
•Experience working with agile methodologies
•Interest in applying UX methodologies
•Experience of using version control (git)

Whilst the developments around COVID-19 continue to evolve, the Wellcome Genome Campus is closed for all but essential functions and facilities.

People remain at the centre of everything that we do and the majority of our staff are now working remotely to ensure continuity of operations, making use of remote communication and collaboration tools.
