Who we are

We're a small team of SLP's & engineers who have a passion for making tools for the education tech sector. For the past four years we've built and grown a web application that services over 350,000 students and is used daily by more than 10,000 school based SLP's. We believe in creating tools that educators actually use.

Our Stack

On the front end we're using Backbone, jQuery, HTML/CSS & {{ mustache }}. We use Node / Express for our API with a MongoDB database. We utilize Bitbucket, Heroku and AWS with an automated CI process for rapid scale and easy deployment.

What you'll be doing

You'll be working on deploying new features to SLP Toolkit, maintaining the current code base, working with the UX & Product development teams and customer support to develop new features and ensure the app works properly.

• Development of new features
• Designing user interactions on web pages.
• Ensuring responsiveness of applications.
• Ensuring cross-platform optimization
• Working alongside UX Designers and the product development team
• Meeting both technical and consumer needs.
• Testing / Bug fixes / Quality Assurance

Requirements

• 4+ years of Javascript development experience
• Very strong Javascript / BackboneJS skills
• Strong CSS / HTML skills
• Strong jQuery skills
• Preferably worked as freelancer or independent contractor in the past
• Experience working with Sketch
• Experience working with component based web apps
• Experience building web applications in a team environment, not just websites
• Experience with Git
• Experience with Cypress a plus
• Experience with NodeJS / Express a plus
• Experience working with MongoDB a plus
• Experience in ed tech or an education related cause is huge bonus points!
