Database Architect (DB2 zOS) 2-3 year Contract Remote to start with onsite required in Madison, Wisconsin late 2021 Under the guidance of the Section Manager of Application Development, this position performs advanced Database Architecture work for large complex systems. Well qualified candidates will have DBA experience with a large (1000+ programs, 400+ tables, 4+ DB2CICS environments or equivalent and distributed systems accessing DB2) using ERWin, Mainview, ChangeMan, IBM Utilities, log analyzer tools, IBM Data Studio, CNTL-M or like tools and significant IT related knowledge. In coordination with the ldquoSafer at Homerdquo guidelines, contracted staff will work with their manager to access work remotely as needed temporarily. However, contract staff will be required to return to the home office in Madison, Wisconsin for regular business hours as restrictions allow. Responsibilities Performance monitoring, fine tuning and evaluation of SQL queries, database and schemas Ability to create tables, indexes and triggers Experience with disaster recovery Recommend and maintain data management Provide expert technical leadership to the applications development and technical staff Install and maintain software on multiple mainframe platforms Plan, test installs and updates to software Coordinate software upgrades with systems DBAs Advice application development staff on the use of database software, designs and data models and efficient data access Available for evening andor weekend on-call duties Qualifications (At least 5 to 15 years of experience) Management of large projects Buffer Pool Tuning Database tuning and maintenance to assure highest level of system availability and performance IBM DB2 Utilities or CDB DB2 Utilities Implement Database Objects and Files needed by Database Applications Provide Multi-Environment Database Support DB2 Application ndash DBA for a very large complex system supporting hundreds of tables in at least five environments Implement and enforce security requirements
