job summary:
Summary: The main function of the UI/UX Designer is to work with project teams to design and deliver high quality client-centered, effective, consistent and usable interfaces.

  • Create designs, concepts and sample layouts based on design principles and concepts.
  • Needs a high level of creativity and able to communicate their ideas to both internal and external clients.
  • The ability to be flexible to client demands, work well under pressure and multi-task are required skills.
  • Overview : My team is primarily focused on UI Design for the native flagship app (Android and iOS). We support digital roadmaps across all lines of business, as well as any channel-specific maintenance and enhancements. The goal with bringing on a new contractor is to augment our team's existing capacity to continue supporting said roadmaps and manage potential overflow.

    responsibilities:
    Is Remote Work Permitted? Yes, the team is currently fully remote. I should also mention that candidates within a day's driving distance of the office are preferred, but others in extended areas can be considered as well.

    Typical workday: Upcoming project opportunities may fall within the areas of Health, Retail, or Photo. A typical day could include a mix of heads-down design, and various forms of online collaboration with project partners and myself, e.g. digital whiteboarding, detailed working sessions, design reviews (internal or stakeholder-facing), grooming with development.

    Extension or Conversion: Generally there have been opportunities to convert contractors to FTE depending on performance, mutual fit, and whether a role is or can be opened before the 24 month tenure limit is up. Only in extenuating circumstances can extensions be made under the current policy which would require leadership approvals.

    TOP must-have skills: Design workflow tools - Sketch, Zeplin, InVision, Adobe Creative Cloud, Familiarity with Android and iOS platforms and their design guidelines,strong design acumen and command of fundamentals, e.g. color theory, typography, layout, etc., Experience with functional UI Design for transactional flows, Experience designing within established UI and brand systems, Excellent collaboration, communication, and presentational skills among design partners and a variety of stakeholders

    TOP Nice-to-Have skills : Design workflow tools - Miro, Figma, Experience with functional UI Design for transactional flows - app-specific, Experience working within health and wellness, and/or retail, User Experience, Familiarity with accessibility best practices, Building and maintaining design systems, High-fidelity animation (After Effects, Lottie framework)

    Years of experience: 5+ years

    Degree or certification: Bachelor's degree in Design preferred.Bachelor?s degree in human factors/usability or related discipline. Candidates with boot camp certifications also considered with preference for those coming from related fields.
