Test Engineer (Big data environment)
We are looking for a Test Engineer to join a large well-known client based in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity to work for one of the biggest names in Leeds, working in an ever-changing technical environment.
Project Background: My client has a data team responsible for managing the data warehouse and Hadoop based Big Data platform. The objective of this team is to gather data from various source applications and then inject into the Big Data platform.
As part of the recent changes the organisation will need to comply with regulatory requirements and provide extra layer of security.
Skills:
Experience working in Big data platform (Hive, HBase, Kafka etc.) as a test engineer/analyst. First preference will be Test Engineer with Big data experiences.
Experience in functional testing, coordinating test activities, executing test scripts and manual testing. Some familiarity with automation using Bash scripting will be useful.
Excellent communication skills when dealing with a team of Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Software Engineers etc.
Self-motivated and work on their own without constant management and make everyone aware of best practices in Big Data platform testing.
Familiarity of Kerberos authentication will be useful but not necessary.
Experience working in TDD environment.
Experience working in modern Continuous Integration environment with tools such as Git, Jenkins (or similar CI tools) etc. used in a Big Data Project.
