Hiring Manager Notes:
- Team is a busy, close-knit group
- Each team has scrum master or multiple scrum masters (they have weekly calls to bounce ideas off each other and see how they may be able to support each other)
- Scrum Master certification is a plus, not necessarily required
- Team is made up of cloud engineers – this team works with the other teams on a regular frequency
- Daily standup meetings to make sure everything is going according to plan
- Enterprise architecture to make sure people are following the patterns
- Currently have an external resource “on loan” to them who has been great, but they are looking for a more cost effective resource
- About 40 members on the team with quite a bit of FTE and a mix of some contractors
- Wants someone who is articulate and able to participate effectively in meetings
- According to manager they “really could use the help right now”
- Looking for Scrum Master to come in and assist
- Doesn’t need to be too technical
- Looking for roughly 8-10 years’ experience as Scrum Master
- Providing coordination amongst different groups
- Someone who is a self-starter and can hit the ground running
- May be representing them in meetings sometimes
- Shouldn’t need a lot of direction/micromanaging
- Good team in place who is always able to help out, team is busy right now with quite a bit on their plates
- If they have prior Fannie Mae experience this could be a great help due to understanding how they work, but this is not necessarily something they are targeting in this candidate coming in (could be just as strong coming from the outside)
- Really looking for scrum background in order for them to be able to jump in and provide immediate assistance (certifications are nice, but real experience is more important)
- If they have worked in more of a PM role but have transitioned to SM more recently this could still be good
- If candidates are well spoken, go getters and ask if needing clarification, etc., they will be great in this role
- Could potentially be converted to FTE if working out well, but they will not turn down work authorizations not able to convert for this position
- Based in the RTC location, may be some flexibility down the road for WFH options on Fridays (not right away)
- More focused on finding the right skillset, open to either local or nonlocal (as long as willing to relocate and work out of Reston location)
- Interview process will likely be a phone screen followed by F2F interviews
Job Description:
The Cloud Center of Excellence Scrum Master leads various teams that are working on a project to achieve specific milestones and deliverables. They must be able to motivate multiple groups and stakeholders at an organizational level, maximizing the potential of all at stake. As a team leader, the Scrum Master must bridge the gap between the concept of the project and the actions required to complete it. The Scrum Master must have strong leadership and organizational skills. The Scrum Master will ensure that the team members are aware of their respective roles and how they will fulfill them while using the agile (sprint and JIRA ticket) framework. The Scrum Master will manage and drive the agile process, protect the team from external interference, foster communication, be ready to come up with new solutions, and should be open to receiving new ideas from team members and other stakeholders.
