What are we looking for?
Experience of designing solutions in a large and complex environment, with demanding non-functional requirements and complex application landscape.
Ability to lead solution design at the project level in an agile environment.
Recent experience of delivering a set of Java Microservices together with a JavaScript front end for a critical, high volume web application. Strong knowledge of these technologies is required.
With many interacting projects in flight; good organisational and multi-tasking is essential, plus the ability to making rigorous decisions at pace.
A broad range of technical skills with solid experience in web and mobile technologies, integration, infrastructure and security.
A focus on modern engineering practices - e.g. DevOps orientation, micro-service API design & delivery patterns, use of Kafka for messaging, ability to shape rapid delivery of MVP's, ability to drop to code (mainly Java) or data (Oracle and DB2) level when required, but also the ability to contribute to enterprise architecture.
A pragmatic, sensible delivery orientated mind-set plus the ability to operate within technical and project constraints and come up with solutions that are the right balance of being technically excellent, quick to deliver and affordable.
A good understanding of retail banking processes, especially in the area of fraud and security would be desirable but is not essential
