Team Description

Our Tech Operations team scales security and reliability for our fast growing user base. This includes managing our network, hardware, and data centers, as well as creating the layer from which all Dropbox experiences are built. As our user base and product family continues to grow, tech operations is responsible for strengthening our foundation.

Role Description

As a Sourcing Manager at Dropbox you are responsible for developing and executing Sourcing Strategy across global vendors. We're looking for a self starter who will thrive in an often-times ambiguous environment and isn’t afraid of a challenge. The Sourcing Manager:
  • Leverages experience in IT Application Services Category - IT Project Development / Application Maintenance Support / SaaS implementation.
  • Strong ability to determine contractual/financial exposure/ negotiate contracts.
  • Knowledge of contracting trends, licensing models - traditional and emerging contract/vendor performance models.
  • Deep market knowledge of available vendors across; Application Services, SaaS, Consulting
  • Expertise to understand contract risks and to work with other parts of the organization in crafting tactics and strategies for risk mitigation.
  • Where applicable, understanding of government and industry regulations that will influence contracting approach and vendor behavior (for example, SOX, SECURITY).
  • Strong ability to communicate with users, legal, sourcing, business leaders and engineering to draft contracts that align technical requirements with business goals.
  • Responsibilities

  • You will lead and Enterprise level contract negotiations (i.e SAAS, POC, Service Agreements)
  • You will lead pricing negotiations for new and existing Software and Professional Services
  • You will reconcile Software Budget Forecast against Actuals leveraging spend analysis
  • You will lead monthly/quarterly vendor business reviews 
  • You will own vendor sourcing/selection process 
  • You will provide ongoing visibility into the progress, risks, and timelines of strategic initiatives aligned with targeted deadlines. 
  • You will partner with software development teams to define, improve internal tools and processes key to engineering success.
  • Requirements

  • 5-10 years overall experience as a Sourcing Manager in an engineering organization.
  • Experience leading “large scale” contract and pricing negotiations 
  • Experience in building and developing vendor partnerships at the Executive level
  • Demonstrated ability and experience to influence, develop productive working relationships, and lead technical teams and key stakeholders from different business functions.
  • A diverse technical acumen--actively contribute to technical discussions, proactively identify challenges and risks, working closely with engineers and product manager on addressing challenges, and form mitigation plans.
  • You have the ability to communicate complex plans effectively.
