The Role

Not for the faint hearted and you will be expected to hit the ground running helping organisations ensure their infrastructure enables continuous business activity through the design, implementation, monitoring, availability and capability of various components to ensure services are seamlessly available as required to carry out normal business tasks.

Typically centred around hardware, software, data stored on various media, and all equipment within wide and local area networks) and you will be required to deliver and support IT services and products to meet the needs of a business.

This will include the preparation for new or changed services, operation of the change process, the maintenance of regulatory, legal and professional standards, the building and management of systems and components in virtualised computing environments and the monitoring of performance of systems and services in relation to their contribution to business performance, their security and their sustainability.

Essential

• Must be SC Clearable

• Strong Linux experience - Redhat/Centos preferred, networking configuration and troubleshooting, software installation, builds and system configuration
• Strong practical networking - connectivity troubleshooting, L2L VPN setup and troubleshooting, packet tracing, NATting, CIDR, ACLs, experience of any major firewall appliances is beneficial
• Cloud experience (good on-prem virtualisation experience also useful against this?) - AWS and/or Azure preferable, launching instances, security groups, AMI
• Windows - server builds, group policy editing, AD concepts

Desirable

• Security concepts - hardening, crypto, host firewalls, SOC experience
• Monitoring - agentless via snmp/wmi, scripting
• SIEM concepts - event monitoring, configuring devices to send events (syslog etc.), vulnerability scanning, probes
• Databases - mysql/postgresql/ms sql
• Extra points for experience of the preferred products: Arcsight, Outpost24, AWS, Azure, Cisco ASA, Fortigate, Osirium, Solarwind
