Context Conversations (soon to be Context Learning) is a virtual education platform, connecting clients with scholars around the world to discuss thousands of topics ranging from art to history to food to culture. Context Conversations was born from Context Travel, an 18-year old tour operator providing cultural and historical tours in over 60 world capitals. Heading into 2020, Context Travel was rapidly growing and gaining market share under a 2-year-old leadership team with venture capital backing, and a growing tech/product team of 10. After the travel and hospitality industry was decimated by COVID-19, rather than sitting on our heels waiting for tourism demand to return, our team of survivors quickly pivoted to bring Context Travel digital. Context Conversations was born within six weeks and has since grown to be an independently sustainable business line which we are planning to integrate with the travel line when tourism returns in 2021 and beyond.
Context is looking for a full-time, 3-month contract UX designer to help us imagine an integrated online and offline business. This is an incredible opportunity to help re-think a business from the ground up, including everything from the front-end e-commerce experience to the back-end processes and tools used by staff.
You’re a perfect candidate for this position if:
You have 3+ years of UX / design experience and a portfolio to show off which includes both front end and back end (systems/internal tools) examples
You’re obsessed with the customer and understand that “customer” does not always = “client”
You have an array of usability research tactics up your sleeve
You believe in using wireframes/prototypes to generate discussion over high-fidelity mocks
You’re comfortable explaining said wireframes/prototypes to non-tech/product stakeholders
You’re a humble collaborator and team player
You believe in the transformative power of cultural travel and education
This is a full-time, 3-month contract position which we are looking to fill as soon as possible. The UX Designer will report to our Miami-based Chief Commercial Officer, but will work most closely day-to-day with our New-York based Product Manager. We were a distributed team prior to COVID and have well-established remote-work practices. You must have your own laptop and a strong wifi connection. US East Coast hours required. Contract-to-hire may be an option at the end of the engagement.
