Job Description:

The Geospatial Programs Division at Leidos currently has an opening for a Web Developer supporting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Alexandria Virginia. This exciting opportunity involves all aspects of developing and maintaining a web based system, built on a Geographic Information System, used to track and analyze Department of Defense Humanitarian Assistance Projects worldwide. This position has the option of teleworking / working remote.

Primary Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for key aspects within the full software development cycle consisting of:
  • Requirements - works with external customers to identify, document, and prioritize system requirements
  • Design - identifies and analyzes designs, tradeoff considerations, and develops recommendations or adapts existing software to meet requirements, making key considerations for system usability
  • Coding - develops software code, graphical user interfaces, and scripts using knowledge of relevant programming languages (C, JavaScript, SQL, C#, VB.NET, Python), databases (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgresSQL, ArcGIS File Geodatabase), Web Services (REST, JSON, AJAX), and Geospatial Technologies, including frameworks provided by ESRI and Open Sources.
  • Testing - troubleshoots software-related problems, develops repeatable unit tests, identifies issues and recommends solutions
  • Deployment -assists in the migration of new/updated software starting with a development enclave, to the staging environment, through to the migration and validation on production servers.
  • Maintenance - documents all aspects of the software, provides ongoing support to system administrators, analyze bug reports and deficiencies, document and implement corrective actions.

Additionally the successful candidate will support continuous monitoring activates for ongoing accreditation under the Risk Management Framework. This includes the ongoing collection and analysis of log and event data, looking at records of activity and performing real-time advanced correlation and pattern recognition. Documenting specific changes to hardware, software, and firmware, descriptions of new or modified features/capabilities, and security implementation guidance. Reviews updates to Security Technical Implementation Guides as released by the Defense Information Systems Agency and documents system impacts.

Basic Qualifications:
  • BS with 4-6 years of experience in computer science or equivalent.

Your future duties and responsibilities:
  • Work with product owners and other development team members to determine new features and user stories needed in new/revised applications or large/complex development projects.
  • Create or Update documentation in support of development efforts. Documents may include detailed specifications, implementation guides, architecture diagrams or design documents.
  • Participate in code reviews with peers and managers to ensure that each increment adheres to original vision as described in the user story and all standard resource libraries and architecture patterns as appropriate.
  • Respond to trouble/support calls for applications in production in order to make quick repair to keep application in production.
  • Participate in all team ceremonies including planning, grooming, product demonstration and team retrospectives.
  • Mentor less experienced technical staff; may use high end development tools to assist or facilitate development process.
  • Leverage client DevOps tool stack to build, inspect, deploy, test and promote new or updated features.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
  • 7 -10+ years of professional industry experience
  • 6+ years of experience of C, C++ Development
  • Proficient in UNIX
  • Advanced proficiency in unit testing as well as coding in 1-2 languages (e.g. C, C++, Java, etc).
  • Advanced proficiency in Object Oriented Design (OOD) and analysis.

The role of the technical engineer is to develop application design and/or design IT infrastructure components to meet business and technical requirements. KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

Interface, partner, and influence stakeholders to promote simplification, standardization and innovation and to ensure risk are understood and minimized

Establish policies and standard operating procedures to enable consistent and repeatable execution

Propose appropriate changes to standards, policies, and procedure based on emerging business/technology trends and operational challenges with the existing guidelines utilizing performance metric and operational SLA

Plan for adequate capability on systems based on utilization metrics and planned projects to establish supply and demand forecasts

Design and verify the technology solution meets business and technical requirements and is in compliance with enterprise architecture guidelines, technology standards and methodology, and compliance and security standards

Maintain and operate the application design. It includes but not limited to monitoring, performance and capacity metrics, SLAs, resiliency and disaster recovery plans

Define success criteria for validation of technology solution and application designs

Develop and document an integrated test plan for certification of technology solutions and application design in compliance with existing best practices

Provide work guidance or technical assistance to less senior engineers

Must have hands-on experience in development, engineering and operational product platform support in Informatica tools.

8 + Years of strong hands on Informatica PowerCenter and Data quality Administration (Versions 9.6 / 10.x). Solid experience in development, administration, architecting, engineering and setting up Informatica Environments.

7 + Years of hands-on experience in configuration, development, performance benchmarks, monitoring, best practices, design patterns and use cases of Power center, Data Quality , Informatica Developer component and Data Virtualization,

7 + years of hands-on experience in planning and upgrading large scale ETL (Informatica PowerCenter / Data quality) environments and Enterprise Data Warehouse applications.

7 + Years of hands-on Informatica process Automation experience using Perl and UNIX shell scripting.

Experience with Informatica Intelligent Cloud service
