Signal Noise reinvents the way people experience data. With a rich heritage in data visualisation, we create digital products, services, and stories in and about complex, data-rich environments from Smart Cities to Industrial IoT and Finance. We aim to change behaviour by having a measurable impact on people. As part of The Economist Group we punch above our weight for a small studio, working with large international organizations on critical projects.

We are looking for an experienced full stack developer, specialising in front end to help build an upcoming project for a household name client. Working closely with the Tech Lead who will provide oversight, you will be responsible for much of the development of the front end and all of the (small) back end application, making sure that it’s performant, extensible and high quality.

You will be an expert in React and have experience with Next.JS, as well as proven ability to design a pragmatic and scalable solution, balancing sometimes competing objectives. Devops and AWS experience would be real benefits. You’ll collaborate closely with the rest of the development team as well as the design and strategy team (around 6 people overall) to ensure we make the right tradeoffs in this ambitious project.

You will be helping to build out the MVP of a geospatial data exploration product for internal use by a globally recognised brand. While the data set and broad use cases have been tested, there are interesting challenges at all levels of this project, from how to represent aggregate data in rich mapping interfaces, to writing performant high-bandwidth code and hosting under Chinese data law.

This contract will be for 3 months, with an ideal start of 14th December.

This position is restricted to UK based candidates
