Additionally the team is closely supported by the firm's wider IT, Cloud, and Security departments; ensuring that we have the tools needed to perform our jobs to the best of our ability.

Based in central Bristol the Application Development Team is formed of a group of like minded and friendly individuals who actively work together to solve the platform development challenges presented by the firm. The team has been working from home during the pandemic, in line with government guidelines, but this has not stopped the team from keeping in touch day to day. Morning team stand ups still occur each day via video conferencing, and everyone keeps in touch via the firm's messaging system (dropping into adhoc video calls to help each other solve challenges whenever necessary). Before the pandemic work life balance was important to us, and it still is now.

You can expect a challenging and rewarding career that will provide you with opportunities to work with all areas of the business. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn new technologies, with access to industry leading technical training resources you will be both able and encouraged to further develop your skills and advance your career with a market leading employer.

You will be supporting the development and enhancement of in-house developed business software applications and business databases used across a broad range of Deals engagements. Projects will be mostly green-field in nature, so you will have the opportunity to develop new solutions from the ground up and have significant input on technical direction.

We also feel it is important for a successful software developer to form a strong understanding of the business they work in; as such our developers are encouraged to learn not just the technical requirements of their projects but also the why and how of the processes involved. Unlike many development teams, our team sits in an area of the office alongside the rest of the Deals Practice teams and are encouraged to feel a part of the wider Deals Practice; meaning you will often know some of the local end users of your projects directly!

Your responsibilities will include but may not be limited to

  • Creating and upgrading bespoke applications using a range of technologies
  • Testing applications and implementing fixes/code refactoring as necessary
  • Producing technical documentation
  • Taking part in code reviews and providing input on architectural decisions.

Required Skills and Experience

Alongside other members of the team you will engage with senior members of our business and clients, helping to solve their business problems and generate value.

  • Have experience of developing applications using a range of technologies, including but not limited to:
