Overall Purpose of the Job:

  • This role will support the council’s digital transformation programme through the improvement of online services, transactions and simplified website content. Adopting the latest user experience techniques and best practice, you will support a range of significant updates and improvements to eastriding.gov.uk.
  • Analysing and reviewing current website content and user journeys, the role will liaise directly with services to deliver improvements to information architecture, create engaging web content and simplify complex online processes.
  • You will have a strong sense of customer focus and will work closely with services to ensure customers can easily access and understand information, whilst also challenging the organisation's preconceptions of the customer.
  • Work will support key digital transformation projects currently taking place within the organisation as the council looks to increase the functionality available to customers within its website. The role will encourage customers to transact online through the delivery of high quality digital transactions that the customer finds easy and convenient to use.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Review and create high quality content for a range of council services
  • Generate high quality page structures and efficient website user journeys that enable the customer to easily access a range of council information and transactions through the web
  • Take complex information relating to council service delivery and create high quality, customer focussed content and transactions
  • Support the delivery of a range of key digital transformation projects, encouraging self-service through the web
  • Understand customer needs and ensure digital content and services meets customer expectations
  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations of best practice when exploring and implementing new web based systems
  • Work with key internal stakeholders, customer services and users to deliver high quality website content and user experiences
  • Act as a digital advisor to council service areas seeking to implement digital services
  • Keep informed of technological developments and advancements in digital service design and delivery, identify best practice and opportunities for application to digital solutions, supporting the Council’s aims and objectives
  • Analyse complex process maps for online forms, providing solutions to improve customer usability by reducing complexity
  • Ensure content published on eastriding.gov.uk is of a high written standard, accessible and uses plain English to support customer uptake and engagement
  • Support the delivery of high quality online transactions and forms
  • Take a data driven approach, identifying poor user journeys and content and to deliver measurable results
  • Utilise the latest tools and techniques to review new and existing website content and user journeys, generating insights into user behaviour to guide and inform website development

Pay Rate: £14.63 per hour PAYE

This is a temporary, but possibly long term role.

“Essential Requirements” – Please check to ensure that your CV addresses the following items:

  • Your recent UK working experience going back at least 5 years, or full employment history if you have been working for fewer years than this.

Anticipated Length of Assignment: All of our roles are technically temporary, though opening assignments can be and often are, extended by clients on a longer term basis and can sometimes become permanent. This opening assignment is for 2 months.

Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
