I worked closely with the team to deliver high-quality code, optimize the platform for scalability, and implement new features to support the growth of the business.

LeoVegas

In April 2022, I made a return to LeoVegas, stepping into the role of Domain Architect - Mobile. I rejoined the project I initially setup back in 2018, which had grown significantly but also required revitalisation. My technology stack remains focused on React Native, NodeJS, Swift, and Kotlin. My responsibilities are expansive, including the addition of new features, integration of new game providers, and the implementation of Apple Pay. I've also adapted the apps to comply with Swedish, Danish and Dutch regulations and have expanded their reach to accommodate more brands.
One of the key aspects of my current role is project rejuvenation. I've been tasked with improving performance, assisting with rebuilding and redesigning components, and assisting with onboarding five new team members. Initially contracted, my role transitioned to full-time after three months, underscoring my commitment to the project's long-term success.

I embarked on a contract with Colgate-Palmolive through Toptal, a platform known for hiring the top 3% of global talent. As a Full Stack Developer, I was involved in a large-scale project that catered to dentists across the United States. My technological toolkit included Shopify, NodeJS, React, SailsJS, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. My role was multifaceted, encompassing the development of new features, fixing issues in the project, and assisting with major migrations. A key milestone was my involvement in transitioning the project from a single-brand to a multi-brand platform, thereby broadening its reach and functionality.
This role resonated with the autonomy and impact I enjoyed during my freelancing days, reaffirming my ability to seamlessly integrate into new projects and make immediate contributions. The remote nature of the job also required adept communication and time management skills, as I coordinated with a client in a different timezone. Throughout my contract, I was fully committed to enhancing both the codebase and the user experience, making the most of my full-time engagement.

Full-stack Development

I joined LeoVegas in July 2018 as the first Native Developer, eventually progressing to the role of Mobile Team Lead. My primary responsibility was to build native applications for all of LeoVegas' managed brands, a task that was nonexistent before my arrival. I initiated the development of a multi-brand, multi-platform React Native solution from scratch, incorporating native libraries and SDK integrations using Swift and Kotlin. Over time, the project grew exponentially, attracting tens of thousands of users and handling millions in deposits annually.
My role was varied, encompassing everything from feature development and bug fixing to navigating the complex regulatory landscape of the gambling industry. I led the team, managed compliance changes, integrated third party libraries for things like fraud detection and payments, and performed numerous large migrations of both the codebase and the platform. I also had the unique opportunity to collaborate with teams and third-party companies across the globe. This role was a significant milestone in my career, marking the largest project I've ever worked on and broadening my skill set in areas like native SDK development.

Indigo Multimedia

Following my freelance career, I joined Indigo Multimedia as a Frontend and Mobile Developer, where I worked full-time from April 2017 to July 2018. During my time, I enhanced my skills in a variety of technologies, including React, React Native, PHP, MySQL, CSS, and HTML. I was involved in a diverse range of projects, from e- commerce sites and learning platforms to specialised applications such as council budget calculators and diabetes tracking apps. The clients while at Indigo included notable organisations like Shell, Newcastle Council, North Ayrshire Council, NHS, Gendius, Open University, Sunderland Council, and NCCA.
The scale of the projects varied, with some being small collaborations between me and a designer, and others being larger that included back-end development. My primary responsibilities were focused on building native apps and frontend websites, although I occasionally delved into back-end development using PHP. One of my significant achievements was learning React Native and converting a React wrapper into a truly native app. This experience also marked my first time taking on large projects in an agency setting, which was both challenging and rewarding. Unlike my previous freelance role, this position allowed me to work closely with clients and collaborate within teams, adding a new dimension to my professional experience.
