Bio
PHP developer with 20 years' experience. Predominantly back-end focused (frameworks, CMS theming and extensions, etc), but plenty of expertise for front-end requirements too.
The brief was to generate suitable data available via the WordPress REST API (requested by the React-based front-end) for a feature landing page ahead of the 2022 Super Bowl. This page - and a number of subpages - would contain betting tips, team guides, form guides and affiliate links to bookmakers. The data needed to be optimised to minimise the payload size on each request, considering the level of traffic (1m+ page views per day), so a Redis object cache was utilised to reduce the number of requests made to the database, and a number of page-specific objects were stored so only the data required for a specific page was returned on any single request.
Full site build working alongside design/UX team. Generated autocomplete search functionality to enable searching within multiple categories and criteria. Also wrote script to generate downloadable PDF "fact sheets" for each area whenever an area or any of its data was amended.
