A Test Engineer / Test Analyst is required to join our clients London based QA / test team on an initial 12 month contract. The Test Engineer will work on a global initiative to ensure the quality of developments to the in house SQL Server data warehouse. The role will focus on building out an automation framework.

The test team are currently building out their test automation framework and require the Test Engineer to have strong experience with automation testing with tools like Specflow, BDD, Piton.


Data & SQL
Strong SQL skills are required, this includes joining tables, unions, aggregating, having statements. Interrogation of the SQL Server database is also key.

Agile
The environment is an Agile one and the team have frequent SCRUM meetings and work to fortnightly sprint cycles. We are looking for T-shaped candidates.

Technical
This test team work closely with developers and have very good levels of SQL.

Modern QA Mindset
For this role we need a test engineer with a modern attitude to testing, a knowledge of DevOps would be highly useful.

This role is part of a larger ongoing project bringing together the two systems (Oracle and SQL Server) into one system, therefore data conversion experience is very important for this Test Engineer / Test Analyst.

Experience:

You will need to demonstrate your track record against the following criteria:

  • Proven analytical skills, designing and implementing BDD feature files for functional and non-functional test activities is essential
  • Experience of delivering automated test frameworks in a test-first CI/CD environment
  • Ability to define the appropriate end to end test approach for automation and performance
  • Proven technical skills in one or more of the following is essential: Azure DevOps, Specflow, JMeter, Selenium WebDriver, WebInspect, C#, JavaScript, Python, Visual Studio, FME
  • Experience of testing on a cloud platform is preferred
  • Experience of allocating and prioritising own work and working across multiple delivery teams

Your new company

You will be working for one of the largest public sector organisations in London who is in charge of all the infrastructure/ light railway network in London

Your new role

You will be joining a fast paced, dynamic back office system project which will be involved in the total development of a new data warehouse environment, working together with SQL Developers, Oracle Developers, BI Developers, Functional BA/ Product Owners and various other stakeholders to ensure full development of this new data warehouse.

You will be working closely with SQL Servers focusing on all testing activities to ensure all data warehouses are fully functional and are operational before launch. You will also be skills in writing/reading complex queries in test environments in mainly Microsoft stack technology such as C#.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong knowledge of T-SQL or PL-SQL
  • Automation Test Tools E.G. Microsoft Test; NUnit; Spec Flow
  • Skilled at using Test/Defect management tools I.E. Visual Studio ALM Tools
  • Skilled at Writing/ Reading Complex queries in test environments such as C#, PowerShell and/or JavaScript


You will ideally have come from a SQL/ Oracle developer background or have indepth knowledge of writing/reading high level technical levels of code in SQL Server development and have skills in recent Automation Test Tools such as the following; Microsoft Test, NUnit, SpecFlow, Selenium, Coded UI Test, DBFit, SQL Server Test Tools in Visual Studio and performance monitoring tools

Also you will have good knowledge on Visual Studio ALM Tools (TFS) and HP ALM.

You will also be knowledge in reading/ writing complex queries in test environments on Microsoft stack technology such as C#, PowerShell, and/or Javascript as most of the applications are developed in this language.
