Company Description

GRID LLC is a unique cannabis-focused startup that was founded in 2020 and is based in Boston, MA. GRID is seeking to provide medical and recreational cannabis users with an individualized cannabis experience, delivered to their home. Grid is entering the final stages of beta testing for its proprietary website and phone app and is seeking an experienced Graphic Designer/Illustrator to create high-quality artwork for our digital and print media publications. This would be considered a GROUND FLOOR role and the person who is brought on would have an opportunity to remain beyond the internship period, based on her or his performance. This would be an ideal position for someone who is seeking meaningful work experience to distinguish himself or herself in the job market, or would-be entrepreneurs who want to see what it really takes to start and build a new venture.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts or Graphic Design
  • Portfolio of completed work
  • Prior work experience as an illustrator, graphic designer, or similar
  • Proficiency in image editing and design such as Adobe Illustrator
  • Drawing, painting, and digital drawing skills

Primary Responsibilities and Opportunities

The Graphic Designer/Illustrator will be responsible for creating high-quality artwork for our digital and print media publications. The Designer will be responsible for working closely with our CEO/COO and Operational Staff to develop inspiring artwork that will attract our target audience. She or he will be responsible for formulating concepts, rendering draft illustrations from written words, models, sketched ideas, and from their own imagination. The Associate will take part in the creation of new marketing campaigns, brainstorming with the marketing and design team to come up with new image ideas, creating complete illustrations, and creating design concepts using a variety of graphics.

This position will have the opportunity to be exposed to different ventures across a variety of industries and have the opportunity to work and interact closely with entrepreneurs, vendors, and members of the management team.

Special Requirements

This position will not require commuting to an office; almost all work will be conducted remotely, however, the ideal candidate should be located in the Boston area. Since the position will not require in person meetings, the ability to work independently and communicate effectively via email, phone and SMS is essential.

Commitment

The Designer must be able to commit through August 15th.

Compensation

The Designer will be provided with a stipend depending on performance and amount of work. However, beyond compensation, this position presents a unique and meaningful learning opportunity for entrepreneurial candidates who want to see how new businesses and SMEs are started and grown.

Timing

We are seeking to fill this position by June 30th, 2020.

The Role
Jenny Life is seeking a Graphic Designer that will contribute to the design of content artwork, ads, graphics and design for Jenny Life. This is an opportunity for a seasoned professional to create world-class design that wins the hearts and minds of women and mothers. You will create a vision for original design as well as customer-facing collateral across channels and audiences. We are looking for exceptional design that will drive awareness, engagement and conversion for Jenny Life.

What You'll Do

  • Custom develop incredible design that drives brand awareness, engagement, conversion and advocacy across website, marketing collateral, and media placements (ads).
  • Evolve the Jenny Life brand image in a way that supports the Jenny Life brand voice and brings the brand and product to life across channels, devices and media types.
  • Partner with internal channel owners and teams (acquisition, product, creative, media, email, search, social, community, BD) to build a design strategy and collateral.
  • Design customer-facing artwork across products, audiences/segments and channels, including blog, social, web, advertising, technology, partner, etc.
  • Manage brand continuity across all properties.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience with experience in graphic design, user-centered design, UI/UX.
  • Deep visual and content strategy skills with proven track record for using design and content to drive business results.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging, creative design for multiple channels in a variety of formats across devices and channels.
  • Expert-level experience with graphic design tools (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a hands-on technology leader to help bring our product to maturity, support our aggressive growth plans, manage and direct all development activity and communicate and develop roadmaps leading development for IM Your Doc into the future. During interviews we intend to discuss the option of split payment between an hourly rate and equity ownership.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and mentor developers working on platforms including: PHP, iOS, Android, and web (Java servlets/Spring).
  • Oversee and assist other product team resources including staff and/or contract quality assurance, design, server administration, etc.
  • Production support, including leading efforts to diagnose customer issues in a multi-platform, distributed environment.
  • Serve as Product Manager, translating customer requests and business directives into User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, etc. that technical staff can take action on.
  • Grow & refine the team. As our business grows, we expect we will need to hire additional permanent resources and contract out some projects to appropriate specialists. You will take the leading role in shaping the technology team as it evolves.
TECHNICAL + LEADERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years of experience in software development, a majority of that in mobile or distributed systems
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership role (Need not be a titled Manager; could be a team lead, Principal Engineer, Scrum Master, Product Owner, or similar person with software team leadership responsibilities)
  • Capable hands-on software engineer in at least two of the following: iOS (Swift or Objective-C), Android (Java), Web development (Ruby, PHP, Java Spring, etc. in combination with React, AngularJS, etc.) server management (Openfire, Tomcat)
  • Ability to review code
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Startup experience (must have)
