My Bristol-based client are currently looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join their team on a 6 month contract basis with immediate effect.

In this position, the successful Infrastructure Engineer will be part of a large project team tasked with implementing a core Infrastructure system, specifically using Microsoft technologies.

In order to be considered, experience in the following is essential:

  • Windows Server
  • Active Diretory / Group Policy

My client is one of the most successful Fintech houses in Belfast and they are now in need of a Senior Systems Engineer to join on an initial 12 month contract with a rate of £350-£450 a day.

The successful Systems Engineer (Contract) will support my client’s Enterprise Server Platforms. The appointed Systems Engineer (Contract) should have expert knowledge of Windows administration, configuration, networking, scripting and automation, large scale distributed computing, hardware/operating system/application interaction, and security best practices.

12 month initial contract with the view to extend.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accurately defines complex problem statements, gathers and compares data about the problems and document the details
  • Prepares analysis report and seeks out all feasible alternatives
  • Prioritizes the alternatives and works out a plan for execution, determining the consequences of each alternative on stakeholders
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the decision’s outcome in comparison to expected results from alternatives
  • Prepares an implementation plan for the problem
  • Collaborates with business owners and determines an optimal solution to stakeholders and senior management based on risk and cost
  • Simplifies/decomposes the problem to smaller problems to reduce complexity
  • Troubleshoots complex issues, determines the root cause, provides solutions, and takes initiative to see the solution through
  • Demonstrates knowledge of advanced systems, distributed computing architecture (client server, intranet/internet), h/w platforms, and resources – CPU, memory, virtualization, clustering and cloud computing
  • Configures systems and modifies settings to ensure proper functioning

QAULIFICATIONS

  • Windows Server Operating Systems – 2008 – 2016
  • Chef, PowerShell, Active Directory, SCOM, SCCM
  • Standard protocols including DNS, SMTP, NTP, NetBIOS, SMB/CIFS, RPC, HTTP, and SSL
  • VMware ESX experience a plus
  • MS SQL Server database experience a plus

Duties to include:

  • Identify, evaluate and assist procurement of appropriate corporate ICT systems

Working for this organisation, out of one of their key UK sites locations (in Nottingham)  you will be expected to support a breadth of infrastructure technologies across the team With different strengths required between different people coming in so as to accommodate the width of infrastructure needs. This may also involve some BAU project work around patching, transition and release and knowledge of infrastructure support process, documentation skill set are all of interest.

The role:

A 6-month engagement to support the Infrastructure services requirements at 3rd/4th level BAU and some project work when and if required. This will cover the following technologies below and so solid experience of at least 3-4 of these will be required:

Contractor required to work with a leading large corporate organisation based in Leeds.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the support, configuration, on-going operation and development of the Windows Systems Infrastructure including ownership of the company's overall Wintel datacentre technology architecture operational functionality, availability, efficiency and security.

This role will involve both project work and support which can cover all areas of technology used within the environment.

General responsibilities:

  • Maintain the Virtualisation and Windows technology capacity, availability and performance
  • Support and implement software support toolkits to manage the Virtualisation and Windows environment
  • Support the development of the Windows and Virtualisation platforms technology roadmap and lifecycle management
  • Development of Server builds and patching using Microsoft SCCM 2012 sp1. Using SCCM 2012 to create and deploy an OS build for Server environments.
  • Carry out security backups, housekeeping, preventative maintenance and other operational tasks
  • Automation of various infrastructure management tasks, including daily checks, server patching and notification, new sever QA and server decommissioning.
  • Documentation, performance tuning, task automation using scripts and deployment technology.
  • Support best practices across all infrastructure including AD Security / Policies / Upgrades, OS & Database clustering technologies, VMware, Storage

Technical skills:

  • Windows Server 2008 and 2012
  • Active Directory including DNS, Group Policies, Delegation of Rights
