My client is one of the most successful Fintech houses in Belfast and they are now in need of a Senior Systems Engineer to join on an initial 12 month contract with a rate of £350-£450 a day.

The successful Systems Engineer (Contract) will support my client’s Enterprise Server Platforms. The appointed Systems Engineer (Contract) should have expert knowledge of Windows administration, configuration, networking, scripting and automation, large scale distributed computing, hardware/operating system/application interaction, and security best practices.

12 month initial contract with the view to extend.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accurately defines complex problem statements, gathers and compares data about the problems and document the details
  • Prepares analysis report and seeks out all feasible alternatives
  • Prioritizes the alternatives and works out a plan for execution, determining the consequences of each alternative on stakeholders
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the decision’s outcome in comparison to expected results from alternatives
  • Prepares an implementation plan for the problem
  • Collaborates with business owners and determines an optimal solution to stakeholders and senior management based on risk and cost
  • Simplifies/decomposes the problem to smaller problems to reduce complexity
  • Troubleshoots complex issues, determines the root cause, provides solutions, and takes initiative to see the solution through
  • Demonstrates knowledge of advanced systems, distributed computing architecture (client server, intranet/internet), h/w platforms, and resources – CPU, memory, virtualization, clustering and cloud computing
  • Configures systems and modifies settings to ensure proper functioning

QAULIFICATIONS

  • Windows Server Operating Systems – 2008 – 2016
  • Chef, PowerShell, Active Directory, SCOM, SCCM
  • Standard protocols including DNS, SMTP, NTP, NetBIOS, SMB/CIFS, RPC, HTTP, and SSL
  • VMware ESX experience a plus
  • MS SQL Server database experience a plus
  • SAN & NAS technology a plus
  • PowerShell scripting for OS and compatible applications and services


REMUNERATION

You will responsible for the roadmap of our infrastructure designs and own design work for specific product and customer solutions.

Reporting to the Head of Infrastructure Design & Delivery within the Infrastructure Team, you will work closely with teams both locally and within other countries to deliver world class solutions on which the business operates.

The company is currently going through a global transformation of multiple architecture concepts to a single global unified infrastructure and architectural strategy, you will take ownership and be responsible for design and delivery of components of this strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure end to end completeness of Infrastructure Technical Design, including NFRs validated and realized.

As the Infrastructure Project Delivery Manager you will be responsible for a team of engineers dedicated to the implementation of the company cloud infrastructure and migration of legacy environments to this new infrastructure. This will involve managing the deployments of projects both new requirements and of expanding/changes to existing services across the business. This is a pivotal role that joins up the project life cycle to provision and manage existing and new solution deployments utilising the new public and private cloud infrastructure. You will be working with 3rd party hosting providers and internal teams for the Cloud and compute elements and server provisioning. This will entail working closely with technical teams across Infrastructure and application architects to deliver robust and sustainable solutions on time, in budget and to quality.

This will be delivered from various locations from data centres and production sites across the UK and the US. You will be responsible for a team of skilled technical engineers competent in delivering complex solutions and builds utilising the existing technologies adopted by the company across all disciplines of compute, storage, virtualisation, backup and monitoring & performance tools spread across regional sites. You will need to be strong project delivery orientated individual capable of managing large complex projects, a team of full time and project resource and demand resource alongside PM's. The role can be performed from London and/or remotely. The main DC's are based in London. There will be occasional travel to national sites with frequent travel to the London. Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall planning, control, status reporting, stability and project delivery of the Hosting work stream.

Fantastic opportunity with a large-scale household name organisation of several thousand employees, providing services to millions of customers across the nation. As a Senior infrastructure Engineer you will play a lead role in infrastructure projects, along with supporting BAU Infrastructure Operations (70% BAU / 30% project envisaged).
You will be a key contributor to the design and implementation of solutions ensuring that IT systems meet the required high standards in the areas of non-functional requirements particularly availability, capacity, performance, security and Business Continuity Planning / Disaster Recovery. This is a complex, group business environment with fairly complex, geographically spread IT infrastructure. Projects are varied; i.e. migration work (virtualising platforms and moving to secure 3rd party Datacentres), introducing governance and processes (patching processes) etc.


Suitable candidates will need a minimum of 3-4 years of experience as a 3rd/4th Line Infrastructure Engineer with the following: (not all essential) :

  • In-depth technical knowledge of the following areas: Server technologies (IBM / HP server infrastructure, Virtualization technologies (Hyper-V & VMware ESXi), Storage Area Networks, (ISCSI connectivity), NAS, IPAM & Traditional RDMS, Windows Servers
  • Knowledge and experience in SQL would be advantageous

  • Accurately defines complex problem statements, gathers and compares data about the problems and document the details

QAULIFICATIONS

  • Windows Server Operating Systems – 2008 – 2016
  • Chef, PowerShell, Active Directory, SCOM, SCCM
  • Standard protocols including DNS, SMTP, NTP, NetBIOS, SMB/CIFS, RPC, HTTP, and SSL
  • VMware ESX experience a plus
  • MS SQL Server database experience a plus
  • SAN & NAS technology a plus
  • PowerShell scripting for OS and compatible applications and services

Network Engineer - Crawley
Network Engineer required by a leading IT business based in Crawley on an initial 3 - 6 months contract paying up to £400 per day.
Please note that this position will be working alongside a helpdesk and will share the 24/7 on call responsibilities, the on-call allowance will be paid at a pro-rated hourly rate.
The Network Engineer must have the following:
  • 5+ years of experience as a Network Engineer
  • A CCNP / CCNA certification (Desired)
  • Strong experience with networking protocols: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VRRP, HSRP, VPN, IPSEC, VoIP, and QoS
  • Experience in WAN/LAN networking including routing, switching, security, load balancing
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise Datacenter environment
  • Recent knowledge of Cisco network equipment required, NAC, Wireless controllers, ACS, Prime, UCS, Nexus 5K switches, Catalyst series, div Router series.
  • Experience in or worked with Unified architecture. Conceptual and hands-on.
  • Proven experience on remote access technologies (VPN like technologies), including use with mobile devices
  • Proven knowledge of Checkpoint firewalls and Cisco ASA.
  • Knowledge of Citrix load balancers.
  • Knowledge of VoIP, QoS and multicasting.
  • Knowledge of network monitoring tools. I.e. Solarwinds and IPSwitch
  • Experience in Network Appliance NAS/SAN environment (FCoE, FCP, CIFS, ISCSI) preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
