Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Data Scientist. A Data Scientist will help us expand our insider threat capabilities to include more predictive analytics and data science capabilities. The successful candidate will help define the shape of this endeavor while working directly with our Insider Threat Program and Counterintelligence team members. The data scientist will identify data sources, perform exploratory data analysis, develop data models and improve the visualization of data sets to provide new user behavior insight.

This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
The Data Scientist will be part of a team within the customer space in support of the Insider Threat Program. The candidate will have hybrid experience in software development and data science. The Data Scientist's role would be to insert data science expertise into our team leveraging machine learning and advanced analytics to solve complex problems.
  • Participates in the research, design and development systems software, software applications and/or tools for new programs and subprograms
  • Identify and make enhancements, modifications, and corrections to existing software and/or data model
  • Identify new machine learning and advanced analytics methodologies based on available data sets, and implement dynamic models/algorithms
  • Collaborate with Insider Threat analytic personnel to understand their mission needs, and identify forward thinking data science approaches for operationalization

REMOTE WORK

Client is looking for someone who can work 20+ hours in a week. You will need to be available to participate in project meetings during the day, but will have the flexibility to get the work done based on your own schedule as long as timelines are accomplished.

JOB SUMMARY:

Build and deploy complex reports using SSRS.Evaluate existing ADW support webpages and upgrade/convert to latest technology.Design, build and support new internal company web applications. Assist in establishing best practices and standards for SSRS report development and web development.

With full competency, devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results. Designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents those programs. Competent to work at the highest technical level of all phases of applications programming activities.

Demonstratable senior level experience with MS SQL, SSRS, web scripting languages and platforms.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Build complex SSRS reports against existing data warehouse in MS SQL 2014 using best practices and standards.

Assist in defining best practices and standards as needed.

Create interactive and informational websites using latest web languages/platforms.

Evaluate existing internal web applications and recommend new technologies.

Install or assist in the install of new web technologies.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to learn and work quickly.

Designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents and implements complex software applications according to standards.

Develop cost-effective information technology solutions by creating new and modifying existing software applications that are more complex with full competency.

May act as a technical programming consultant for small-scale projects that include multiple product lines and various interfaces.

Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or related field is preferred.

Experience: Six years of experience in programming and systems analysis.

Knowledge: Must have proven knowledge in computer programming language. Must have a thorough understanding in systems and data processing policies, practices and procedures. Must have a thorough understanding in systems analysis and design techniques. Must have extensive knowledge of the systems development life cycle.

Skills/Competencies:

SQL Server, SSRS, Web building applications

Experience with Salesforce Integration and MySQL is a plus.
