Embedded Hardware/Firmware Engineer (Aerospace)

My client has a brand new position at their base in Belgium to work on an exciting new project that is getting underway shortly. The specifics of the project I'm allowed to share is limited but they have been at the forefront of Aerospace technology since their inception back in the early 1900's. They are involved in designing and developing ground-breaking, innovative technology for both Aircraft and Satellite based technology.

This requirement is due to a ramp up in the project and is to build the team so the contract on offer is 6 months initially with the option to extend after that. (Due to taxation reasons this can be brought down to a 5 and a half month contract for overseas workers). The pay rate on offer is around €70 - €75 per hour but there is still room for flexibility. Payments can be paid through Limited Company or an Umbrella Company.
(Please note this contract requires people to work on site 100% of the time for the duration of the contract).

Roles of the Hardware/Firmware Engineer:

- Handling the design and development of both hardware (FPGA/ ASIC) and software architecture (via microprocessor).

- Handled embedded system documentation.

- Implementing feedback control algorithms and safety/monitoring functions on a target processor or FPGA.

- Testing and De-bugging responsibilities.

- Be involved in validation of the embedded system.

Required knowledge for this Hardware/Firmware position:

- Extensive knowledge of C, C++ and VHDL and communication bus protocols is a plus (SPI, 1553, …)

- Knowledge of architecture design of software/microelectronics solutions

- Eclipse development environment is a plus.

- Knowledge of D0-178 and DO-254.

Responsibilities include:

  • Completion of software tasks to project processes and software development, within schedule and cost
  • Testing of functionality
  • Accurate reporting progress and providing feedback to stakeholders
  • Supporting System Test and Integration Activities
  • Production of appropriate technical documentation
  • Participation in peer reviews of own and others' work products
  • Configuration of all artefact's
