Pocket.watch is currently seeking a passionate and experienced WordPress Developer to join our team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of wordpress experience, can manage both back- and front-end development, and is proficient in customizing WordPress themes and plugins. This is an excellent opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a trailblazing entertainment company and work with top industry executives.
Responsibilities:
- Work with our product & marketing teams to implement website infrastructure and content updates
- Establish and guide the website’s architecture
- Manage all technical aspects of the CMS
- Test all completed work to ensure proper and error free functionality
- Ensure website is responsive, functional, and available on all platforms (mobile, desktop, etc.)
- Monitor website performance, availability, and functionality, responding to errors and outages efficiently
- Manage timelines in order to provide on-time delivery for all work
- Ensure high-performance and availability, including migrating the website to a CDN infrastructure with scalable architecture capable of handling high traffic spikes and loads
Qualifications:
Knowledge and Experience
- 2 – 4 years of experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications using the Wordpress framework
- Strong understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery
- Good understanding of PHP back-end development
- Experience designing and developing responsive design websites
- Familiarity with any or all of these Wordpress plugins:
- Yoast SEO
- Understanding of code versioning tools (such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial)
- Strong competency in responsive design, leveraging CSS, and media queries
- Practical knowledge of web page optimization techniques and guidelines for fast page load times
Skills
- Fluent in Adobe CC Suite, namely Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver. Skill in additional Adobe CC Suite programs a plus
- Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
- Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers
- Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages
- Ability to accept guidance and respond well to feedback
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative setting under tight deadlines
Work environment
- The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions and work is performed in a business office environment.
Physical demands
- Must have close visual acuity to perform the primary responsibilities of this position.
- Work is sedentary in nature and involves sitting most of the time.
