Summary

This project involves the design and development of an interactive website for use by The Listening Sessions Project and The Lehmann Group. The Listening Sessions Project provided a space for resettled refugee women and girls to share their complex lived experience, and provide solutions to funders, to those providing services in the US, and to advocates. This website is meant to provide a highly visual, engaging, and informative site for clear target audiences, driven by the voices and solutions of resettled refugee women and girls that were part of this project.
Project Scope
This scope of work will follow the timeline outlined below and does not include ongoing maintenance of the site outside of what may be stated in the scope. This SOW covers the below activities and deliverables. All deliverables must be executed with a commitment to design and strategy that creatively elevates the leadership, power, and knowledge of women and girls from diverse communities.

  • Project Management: Managing the process of the project scope outlined below.
  • Creative Thought Leadership and Design: Work with the project management team’s ideas and functional needs for the site to conceptualize and provide high fidelity mock-ups of website design possibilities with web design best practices,digital trends, and knowledge of how to best design for and engage target audiences. This includes website functions, possible interactive elements, as well as site style and branding.
  • Design and Development: Design and build the website, including setting up site host and domain, making relevant recommendations, building site layout and user interface, and executing the agreed-upon visual design. Prepare and share necessary information and basic guides with management team to ensure proper handover of site, hosting, and domain maintenance.
  • Graphic and Visual Design: Create and refine a package of compelling graphic designs for website that elevate women and girls’ power and leadership, illustrate key concepts, uphold racial equity and celebrate diverse communities. Strategically integrate these designs throughout website.
  • Written Content: Drawing on the learnings from Listening Sessions and information provided by the management team, draft relevant written content for site pages as-needed. Work with project management team to ensure written content meets website goals.
  • Current Concept Specs Include: possibly 8-10 pages (or less in scrolling formats); some features of the site will include basic animation, multiple language options, and/or interactive elements.

Qualified candidates or teams of candidates will bring expertise and skills in the following 3 areas:

Creative Project Management and Leadership Qualification/Skills:

  • 5+ years of creative project management.
  • An established track record of managing, designing, and implementing complex digital projects.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to deliver work products under deadlines, and commitment to high quality standards.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge and experience working with refugee communities and/or issues related to violence against women and girls a plus.

Visual and Graphic Design Qualifications/Skills

  • 3+ Years experience in graphic design and/or digital illustration.
  • Experience designing visual concepts and branding that enhance and bring together websites cohesively.
  • Proven success in translating complicated information into engaging and digestible images.
  • Experience designing images that powerfully represent a diverse range of women and girls from different backgrounds and communities.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite

Web Design Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s in computer science or related field, or significant equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of professional design experience
  • A strong visual and technical portfolio
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), or equivalent products
  • 3 years minimum experience with HTML, Javascript, and CSS
  • Knowledge of browser compatibility across multiple platforms and devices.
  • Must have strong graphic design skills in Photoshop, Sketch, InvsionApp, UX Pin, or equivalent application(s).
  • Strong ability to design with accessibility in mind.
  • Demonstrated ability to take a project from concept to launch
  • Strong command of color theory, image composition, and typography
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to work with deadlines
  • Ability to deliver production-ready digital assets in a wide variety of formats
  • Knowledge and practice of UI/UX principles a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
  • Social media and email marketing experience a plus
