Solarix is a digital fabrication company in Portland, OR / Seattle, WA creating custom software, web applications and hardware portals for private & government clients. We are a small, fun, creative group that loves solving intricate problems for our clients in new ways. No project is the same, we dabble in everything from hardware prototypes to marketing websites, company intranets to machine learning automations. Our engineering team is seeking to add two additional talented members that can adapt quickly to new projects, invest themselves in solutions and be an excellent team player. Our company also operates a number of SaaS services across a few different industries.
This is a contract to full-time-hire position; after three months if both sides feel that the fit is right we'll gladly offer a full time position. We are not interested in applicants seeking a short-term contract at this time.
We are seeking a talented web developer with a generalist skillset, preferably with a leaning towards front-end or backend but able to handle a multitude of general website tasks.
Duties:
Participate in project planning, quotation and solution theory
Create websites from frameworks, flat design (Figma, PSD)
Website content loading, deployment, info architecture
CMS installations, integration & custom addon development
Solution research, identification, troubleshooting
Testing of websites in-development, online with multiple browsers, devices and toolsets
Website migrations / Content import
Manage hosting accounts, domains and cloud accounts
Create & maintain templated frameworks/start-kits for ongoing development
Improve process workflows
Requirements:
Expert level HTMl/CSS
Expert level Javascript (if Frontend)
Ability to program from scratch, create performance improvements, adapt to changing backend structure and develop custom solutions
Ability to create frontend views, including basic design systems that connect to backend services (sometimes via Restful API / GraphQL)
Expert level PHP (if Backend)
Ability to program from scratch, create performance improvements and develop custom solutions
Ability to create backend connections for frontend attachment
Ability to handle basic frontend (HTML/CSS) tasks as needed (no design skills req.) to prototype backend operations
Basic knowledge of SQL queries
Experience with development tools (Git, npm, SASS/LESS, Webpack, Gulp)
Experience with Linux command-line
Development space setup, hosting creation/install and software installations
Ability to take project requirements and see it to a final, launched solution
Strong experience in working (or developing) with APIs, including integration & performance management

Familiarity with cloud hosting (Digital Ocean, Google Cloud Compute)
Experience with React and/or Vue
Experience with Laravel
Experience with Wordpress / LAMP stack CMS
Located in Pacific Northwest, w/ ability to meet in Seattle/Portland occasionally
Office Requirements:
Available during Pacific Time Zone (5hrs min)
Frequent video conference calls

Physical Demands:

Ability to meet in Portland 2-4 times per month
