About the role Our R&D center located in Rennes is looking for a talented Video Codec engineer to strengthen its engineering product development activity.
As part of the experimented Video Codec scrum team, you will contribute to develop the Video Codec related roadmap features that will be embedded into the MediaKind transcoding products for Live and On-Demand services.
You will directly report to the Video Codec line manager, whose team also works on a variety of cutting-edge video technologies, such as evaluation and design of future video compression standards.
Key aspects of your role
Design and develop advanced video compression and pre-processing features into MediaKind Video Codec SW component (C-C++/Linux)
Follow software development quality practices in place at MediaKind: this includes test automation and strategy, coding rules, peer reviews and continuous improvement
Interface with Video Compression experts to implement new video-processing algorithms
Analyze and defend the trade-offs between computational complexity and picture quality gain of his implementations
Dive in to complex themes, analyse and resolve them
About you
In a Video Codec Software Engineer, we are seeking a talented and motivated engineer with a Masters Degree or Ph.D in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or related engineering disciplines.
You are expected to have a minimum of 5 years of experience in software development for video compression and processing systems in industrial environment.
In addition to your core video compression experience, your technical skill-set will cover the following:
Mastering C/C++ development under Linux, and other scripting languages such as Python or Perl
Highly proficient with Multithreading and Parallel Programming in C++ (Intel Compiler C++, Intel IPP, OpenMP, Intel VTune Amplifier)
Solid background in Video compression standards (MPEG-2, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, HEVC-H265)
Highly skilled in Video pre-processing (spatial or temporal filtering, image improvement).
Experience in grid computing
Good knowledge of Software Configuration Management (Git) and automated tests management (Jenkins, pipeline)
Agile SCRUM team experience
As a MediaKind person, you’ll need to be a good communicator in both French and English (other languages also desirable) and be a collaborative, engaging team player. In addition, you should be adept at solving complex problems and identifying solutions to best fit the teams needs.
Location
Our R&D Centre is based in Rennes, however, for candidates outside of the Rennes area, we will consider remote working. You will need to be able to travel to our Rennes when required.
