UX Designer - Mobile App Project

Responsibilities:

This UX Designer role will lead user research and design key functionality for new functionality on an App that is used by 1000's of people daily and that will be released via the app in September 2021.

Working as a key member of an Agile project team, they will work closely with the Product owner and Product Team to research student needs and user journeys, and to then make specific recommendations on which features and functionality should be prioritised in the app, and what should be accessible via other platforms. They will design user interfaces and ensure that new functionality and features meet the needs of our user and achieve the strategic objectives identified by the organisation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct concept and usability testing and gather feedback from a range of stakeholders across the University
  • Refine persona models and establish needs through user research and data analysis
  • Develop wireframes and prototypes
  • Communicate design ideas and prototypes to developers and the wider project team
  • Work iteratively to design solutions that work for our users
  • Present project research to a range of stakeholders - in workshops, 121s or through digital channels
  • Find creative ways to solve UX problems (e.g. usability, findability)

Skills/experience required

  • Proven experience as a UX Designer, UI Designer or similar
  • Strong portfolio of UX projects is essential - including the design, development and build of mobile applications
  • Extensive experience leading concept and usability testing and gathering feedback
  • Extensive experience communicating design ideas and prototypes to developers and working with them to solve problems
  • Proven teamworking skills in an Agile project environment
  • Good understanding of interaction design and information architecture
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Experience of Higher Education sector or Government Digital Service an advantage.
