Who is SingleMind?

SingleMind is a growing digital product design and development firm headquartered in the beautiful Northwest. We seek out awesome, collaborative pros with broad interests and skills to join our team. Is that you?

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a talented UI/UX designer to help us build remarkable digital experiences for our wide range of clients, in addition to contributing to the foundations of a rapidly growing design team.

The innovative spirit of an entrepreneur with an optimistic attitude is vital as you will need to be both self-managed but thrive on collaboration. Reporting to the design lead, you'll solve engaging problems, and work daily with both colleagues and clients to deliver the work that makes an impact.

Who You Are

  • Pixel perfect, but not precious: You sweat the details and care deeply about precision — but not so much that you can't get your work done. You can estimate your time accurately and deliver your best work on time, every time.
  • Push boundaries: Whether you are helping ideate, communicating with clients, or putting the final touches on visual design, you take enormous pride in your work and are willing to do whatever it takes to make your work the best it can be.
  • You have IQ, and EQ: You're a natural problem solver and good at putting yourself in others' shoes — whether that's during a design exercise or in a conversation with a colleague
  • Self-motivated, quick learner: You manage your own schedule and learn by doing. You've gained some expertise in design, but are not afraid to roll up your sleeves with a smile and take on new challenges.
  • Know how to take ownership: You actively participate in the projects you're involved in and are ready to be accountable for outcomes, not just for the work you've been tasked with.
  • Great team member: You like working with others, you're professional and consistent, you communicate clearly. You're willing to leave your ego at the door. You can take — and give — constructive design feedback, and you put the quality of the work above your need to be right. Plus, you have a well-developed sense of fun and a willingness to occasionally communicate in emojis and gifs :space_invader:
  • Rolls with the punches: When things get weird, you don't lose your head. You can figure things out when the answers aren't obvious or direction isn't clear.
  • Works hard, plays harder: You have an interest outside the office and it keeps you driven to work 40 hours a week and not 65. That could be your kids, or training for an IronMan, or collecting pinball machines — whatever it is, ultimately you prefer to balance your time with being somewhere other than in front of an LED screen.

Your Day-to-day Tasks Will Look Something Like This

  • In this era of COVID, we all work remotely. You'll commit to core working hours that align with the Pacific Standard Time work-day, and be online and available via Slack during those hours, in addition to whenever we have team meetings
  • You'll report to the creative lead, producing a range of deliverables that might include site maps, user flows, interaction recommendations, wireframes, or detailed visual mockups
  • You'll estimate and plan your time for projects based on 2-week sprints
  • You'll take part in product ideation and whiteboard sessions and help us figure out how to deliver the best possible apps and websites for our clients
  • You'll conduct user research and usability tests
  • You'll participate in design reviews and present work both internally and with clients
  • You'll write user stories, review your designs, and provide feedback to our engineers

What We're Looking For

  • 3-5+ years experience creating interfaces, digital experiences, and/or responsive/mobile apps
  • Proven experience working on design at-scale, with others. This could be in a full-time role or on a contract basis, but if you've only worked in a team of one or with pre-launch products, you're not the right fit.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in the role of UX / interface / interaction / visual designer, or information architect, or similar
  • Ability to clearly communicate and articulate the thinking behind your designs decisions
  • Ability to work with existing brand standards and guidelines, or help define them
  • Ability to work with design systems — evolving existing systems or defining new ones
  • Demonstrable empathy and creative problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Figma, Sketch, Abstract, Invision, and other design tools
  • A solid portfolio of work that can speak to your critical thinking and design chops

Bonus!

  • Experience with prototyping tools and interaction design
  • Experience with user research and usability testing
  • Accustomed to agile methodologies (we work in 2-week sprints)
  • Experience designing for a variety of industries is a bonus (retail, travel, healthcare, higher education, etc)
