We are looking for a UX/UI designer

Design matters

We believe you can’t be a great software company without great design. We believe in clarity, smooth user experiences, the right words in the right places, well-organized and clean code, and all the little touches that make an interface feel just right. You should believe in these things too.

What you’ll be working on

At TeachForward you’ll be working on products that educators rely on every single day to further their professional development. Your work will impact millions of interactions. You’ll be working with a specialized team of developers and quality assurance professionals with a reputation for delivering quality products on time. Our team is top notch, and we want you to make it even better.

As a designer at TeachForward you will work on a variety of projects: polishing up an existing feature, designing the UI for a brand new feature, fundamentally revamping or rethinking existing UIs or maybe helping to design a brand new product or a new marketing site.

Add value not work

Our projects are always focused on providing value-added products for our clients. When the users find the product straightforward and intuitive, we know the design is right. Your job, as a designer at

TeachForward, is to make our clients’ experience about what they want to do, not how to do it.

Be a collaborator

At TeachForward, designers work collaboratively with a frontend and backend developer and a quality assurance professional to create the best experience within the project’s constraints. In addition to designing the screens/elements, you’ll help the team focus on what’s most important.

What you bring to the table

We’re not looking for a certain design style, we’re looking for a certain design approach and taste level.

Simplicity isn’t enough – clarity is where it’s at. You think about how people interpret the objects on the screen. What they think about, what moves them, what frustrates them, what makes them happy. You know that the right UX/UI design decisions can make all the difference.

You’re excited to discover a better solution, even well into a project. You don’t mind throwing something out in favor of a better idea or implementation. Projects at TeachForward start with real code. Feedback from an evolving prototype guides the team. While we’re very pragmatic about code, it is important that your design/code is easy to change in response to feedback.

Besides having great visual taste and talent, you must have experience designing and UI and UX. You also have experience in UI Cross-platform, EdTech, and designing for multiple languages (especially
Arabic) are all plusses, but not required. Excellent writing skills are required.

Minnesota or remote

At this time, we would prefer to find the best person in the greater central Minnesota area including

Minneapolis, St. Paul, St. Cloud, and surrounding suburbs. However, we are mostly a remote company that meets in person periodically for whiteboarding and design sessions. It is easier for everyone if a meeting in the general Minneapolis area does not require travel or lodging arrangements.

Compensation

At this time, we are primarily thinking of this position as Contract for Hire, which means you will have a lot of flexibility in when, where, and how you complete your work. Please include your hourly rate in your initial email.

How to apply

It doesn’t matter where you went to school or if you even graduated. What matters is that you have great software design experience and you are ready to work with the team to develop quality products.

We are an equal opportunity employer and embrace diversity. Our ability to develop high-quality products depends on having a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and talents.

If we think you may be a good fit we will contact you with the next step in the application process. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing your work.
