Dark Horse Comics has an immediate opening for an experienced Ubuntu System Administrator.
We are the developers of the Dark Horse Comics app for Android [1], iOS [2], and ecommerce site [3]. We also maintain the Things From Another World ecommerce site [4] and several other related sites, along with multiple hardware and virtualized hosts that provide the full range of local enterprise services.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the creation, care, and feeding of private and public server and virtualization environments
- Supervise the deployment and maintenance of hybrid cloud components, including physical moves, installation, and upgrades in corporate office and regional colocation facility
- Administer systems using automated configuration management utilities (Puppet, Fabric, Ansible)
- Manage performance and availability monitoring of all systems using New Relic, Nagios, Graphite, Graylog, Zabbix, etc.
- Monitor and evaluate all systems for reliability, scalability, and budget
We expect you to have the following:
- Deep knowledge of Linux-based system administration (Ubuntu, CentOS)
- Experience with networking, VLANs, packet sniffing and diagnostics
- Scripting experience in bash, python, etc.
- Familiarity with version control, project management, and issue tracking tools
- Solid understanding of databases, SQL, and caching
- Solid understanding of DNS, zone files, and addressing
- Experience managing and supporting open source packages such as nginx, haproxy, postfix, vagrant, etc.
Extra credit for knowledge with:
- Development experience in Puppet, Ruby, or equivalent
- Container technologies: LXD, Docker, etc.
- Orchestration systems: Nomad, Terraform, Kubernetes, etc.
- Advanced Networking and routing experience
- Advanced macOS administration experience
