TEST LEAD

Spring Technology's client, a public sector organisation, are currently looking to recruit a Test Lead for an initial 6 month contract based in Edinburgh on a rate of c.£400-450/day (outside of IR35).

Responsibilities:

  • Review and input to requirements and design documents from the perspective of testability.
  • Work closely with stakeholders including external parties to agree and document within Test Plans, the test scope, testing types, schedule, environment and data requirements for testing a range of internal applications and external interfaces.
  • Work with Business Analysts, end users and product owners to prepare test suites and data which will prove the system under test.
  • Work with IT Operations and Sprint teams to understand the release plan for the test stage, and with Service Test Managers to understand plans for other testing, so that testing can be scheduled accordingly.
  • Provide traceability of testing against plan/requirements/test basis.
  • Defect identification, reporting and tracking to closure via JIRA.
  • Work with automation engineers to introduce efficiencies of automation into the test phases where appropriate.
  • Mentor other testers within the team.
  • Strive for continuous improvement; input to test improvements roadmap.
  • Be an active participant in the Testing Practice and Testing forums.

Requirements:

  • Solid experience leading a small team of testers through the various test stages in an agile development environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of testing types, testing processes, procedures and associated governance.
  • Proficient in designing Test Plans and schedules, test cases/scenarios, and in data set up, test execution, reporting and problem analysis.
  • Experience of testing JAVA WebSphere on Cloud infrastructure.
  • Proficient in DB2/SQL.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management and the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Experience of configuration management tools such as GIT.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of QTest or similar tooling.
  • Working knowledge of Linux and/or VB would be useful.
  • Knowledge of automated testing is desirable i.e. be able to identify potential automation opportunities.
