Test Architect

Metro Systems is looking for an Test Architect to help support one of our top financial clients. This client is a leader in the web and mobile spaces and is always looking to bring on candidates who will be an asset to the team in the long term. This position is in Charlotte, NC.

Responsibilities

  • Design & implement the shift-left test strategy as the organization rearchitects our technology platform.
  • Collaborate with application managers to establish test standards, practices & toolsets across all levels of testing including Unit, Component, System, and Acceptance.
  • Partner with DevOps engineers to fully automate testing throughout the release & delivery processes in the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and select market-leading frameworks and tools across all levels of testing that integrate in the automated CI/CD pipeline.
  • Partner with Dev Ops and application managers to define pass-fail testing thresholds within the automated release gates that ensure quality is met before code moves through pipeline.
  • Define appropriate levels of code and test coverage across the platform.
  • Lead the team of Test Engineers to execute test strategy.
  • Ensure QA deliverables are met across sprint teams within domain for each release.
  • Participate in product design reviews ensuring quality practices are baked into the software development and deployment life cycle.
  • Work with internal teams to document test environment and test data management container strategies and provisioning for the different types of testing activities.
  • Comprehend and decompose user stories/requirements to identify what tests need to be created and automated across the all levels of testing.
  • Create a culture that motivates teams to ensure zero defects leak into production.
  • Work across teams to understand enterprise quality requirements and ensure adoption of core processes and standards.
  • Be an advocate that mentors and guides others across the organization on best testing practices, techniques, and strategies.
  • Prepare, communicate, and deliver technical presentations related to the test strategy that is tailored to the audience.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in Test Automation Architecture for web technologies.
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related subject.
  • Possesses a deep understanding of shift-left test practices and techniques along with the frameworks and tools that support it.
  • Experienced defining and executing test strategies for web applications.
  • Experienced leading a QA team in the development and execution of a test strategy in an agile/continuous testing environment.
  • Experienced with integrating test automation tools with the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Experienced defining tests types for the different levels of testing.
  • Experienced developing test coverage maps to ensure quality across the entire software stack.
  • Experience defining and implementing test standards, tools, processes and test design techniques (including white box).
  • Expertise in many different types of web technologies with a specific focus in JavaScript.
  • Preferred experience with Ember & React JS.
  • Experienced using the following frameworks & tools: Junit/TestNG (Java), Qunit/Chai (Java Script), Android Studios/Mocha (android mobile), XcTest (iOS), SoapUI Pro, Selenium RC/WebDriver.
  • Preferred experience with market-leading tools such as Cypress, TestCafe, Jest.
  • Preferred experience with writing unit, component, integration, and system tests
  • Experienced using technologies such as BitBucket, Crucible, SonarQube, Jenkins, Maven, Docker, uDeploy.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $1.00 - $999.00 per hour
