Undertake the investigation, analysis, review and documentation of all or part of a business in terms of business functions and processes, the information used and the data on which the information is based. The definition of requirements for improving any aspect of the processes and systems and quantification of potential business benefits. The creation of viable specifications and acceptance criteria in preparation for the construction of information and communication systems.

Liaise with Programme Management Office and Business Solution Teams during business case development, maintain a watching brief up to handover of the project, supporting the development of project ideas in support of business objectives leading to the development of the business case and functional requirement specification.

To support the Business Consultancy function in developing directorate strategy and the generation of new project ideas.

  • Understanding ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ processes
  • Understanding the functionality of the solution
  • Understanding the integration needs of partner systems
  • Exploring new ways of working to support integration
  • Aligning ‘to be’ processes with agreed benefits
  • Deliver ‘to be’ processes in a timely manner aligned with the implementation plan
  • Building positive relationships with partners and suppliers
  • Support the development of test plans

Pay Rate: £14.99 per hour PAYE

This is a temporary, but possibly long term role.

“Essential Requirements” – Please check to ensure that your CV addresses the following items:

  • Your address (including post code) and a telephone number so that we can reach you during working hours
  • Your recent UK working experience going back at least 5 years, or full employment history if you have been working for fewer years than this.
  • Your availability to work either immediately, or at short notice.
  • Qualifications:
    • Recognised IT qualification commensurate with the National Qualification Framework Level 3 (e.g. BTEC)
    • ITIL Service Management foundation qualification - desirable
    • Recognised Business Analysis qualification (e.g. Sprint) - desirable
    • ECDL - desirable
  • Knowledge:
    • In depth knowledge and awareness of process modelling languages (e.g. UML)
    • A broad awareness of ICT best practice, trends and capabilities within the private and public sectors – knowing what is possible
    • A sound appreciation of the government’s modernisation and transformation agendas and policy strands affecting ICT in the public sector
    • An awareness of best practice in managing the delivery of ICT services, programmes and projects; to include formal frameworks and methodologies such as ITIL Service management and PRINCE2
    • Understanding the importance of customer focus
    • An understanding of factors that influence the success of change management and transformation programmes - desirable
    • A clear understanding of the context in which the Council and its partners operate, the challenges they face, their priorities and aims - desirable
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages

Anticipated Length of Assignment: All of our roles are technically temporary, though opening assignments can be and often are, extended by clients on a longer term basis and can sometimes become permanent. This opening assignment is for 2-3 months.
