A Housing Officer is required to deliver a high quality housing management service that meets the identified needs of customers and the wider community in line with Sanctuary Housing Services’ business plan.

The job sits within Housing which manages homes across England, providing general rented housing, market rent properties, shared ownership and home ownership accommodation. The postholder will also need a flexible approach with some weekend and evening work required.

Duties to include:

  • Deliver a high quality housing management service that meets the needs and expectations of current and future residents and the wider community in line with Sanctuary Housing Services business plan
  • Provide effective tenancy and resident management in line with the prescribed policies and practices to build community cohesion
  • Meet all legislative and regulatory requirements for housing management activities, ensuring the provision of quality and safe homes for Sanctuary Housing's customers and to minimise potential risks
  • Ensure the effective management of complaints in line with policy, focussing on first contact resolution and the identification of future learning opportunities to achieve customer service excellence
  • Develop, build and maintain relationships with tenants and other key stakeholders to ensure the effective management of housing services, identifying any shortfalls in service delivery and ensure these are acted upon
  • Update and maintain all manual and computerised records in an accurate and timely manner to ensure compliance with the Group’s Record Management and Data Protection policies
  • Manage the recruitment, performance and development of quality staff to ensure that skilled staff are available to meet business needs and individual accountabilities
  • Contribute, as appropriate, to special programmes and projects in support of the Group’s objectives

Pay Rate: £15.77 per hour PAYE

This is a temporary, but possibly long term role.

“Essential Requirements” – Please check to ensure that your CV addresses the following items:

  • Qualifications:
    • Numeracy and literacy to the equivalent of GCSE Maths and English
    • NVQ3 in relevant area
    • Full current driving licence
  • Knowledge & Skills:
    • Excellent understanding of written and spoken English
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Good negotiation and presentation skills
    • Ability to extract and interrogate data
    • Experience of using housing management software
    • Email and internet communications
  • Experience:
    • Recent experience of undertaking a similar role
    • Proven experience of delivery high quality tenancy services
    • Proven experience of working to deadlines and prioritising workloads
    • Proven experience of good practice resident involvement activities
    • Working knowledge of relevant regulations and good practice
    • Proven experience of analysing and diagnosing problems and implementing solutions
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages, including Word & Excel
  • The postholder will also need a flexible approach with some weekend and evening work required

Anticipated Length of Assignment: All of our roles are technically temporary, though opening assignments can be and often are, extended by clients on a longer term basis and can sometimes become permanent. This opening assignment is for 5 weeks.
