Technical Architect / £525 PD / Outside IR35 / Epsom(2 days working from home) / Immediate
My client have an immediate need for a Technical Architect to support them in bringing their IT Services back in house. Ideally you will come from a development background within Java and Azure. A thorough understanding of the Agile Methodologies is essential also.
In this role you will:
- Lead and work collaboratively as part of a multi-functional team, focused on one or more Agile projects
- Ensure the overall technical design of products meet user needs and acceptance criteria, whilst conforming to time and budget constraints, using Agile delivery methods
- Act as an expert in modern web technologies, leading a community of developers, adding value through innovation and collaborative development of technical standards
- Work with an established Architecture practice to design technical services, selecting necessary platforms and technologies to meet project and user needs
- Build and maintain technical roadmaps, looking ahead for future opportunities or blockers, and will ensure decisions by development teams align with strategy
- Form and maintain relationships with external suppliers to inform backlog decisions, current work, and future strategy
- Advise product managers and technical leads on the estimated effort and technical implications of current user stories, as well as those in the backlog
- Help develop services by contributing code, testing technologies, and producing technical prototypes
- Mentor developers, setting standards, and ensuring delivery targets are met
- Be responsible for ensuring appropriate automation is applied to increase efficiency and productivity, pursuing technologies and approaches that enable this vision
- Assist Architects in the creation and evolution of the organisation's IT Strategy and Architecture

They are looking for someone with considerable IT and Digital skills combined with a delivery-focus for supporting new IT solutions and services aligned against the overall IT Architecture Strategy. To be successful in this role you will have:
Experience:
Experience leading technical teams and delivering digital or integration services
- Strong software development and application architecture experience, with good knowledge of open source technologies, testing, and at least one programming language
- Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies
- Experience scaling online services
- Awareness of emerging security issues
- Experience creating, reading, and understanding solution design documentation
- Understanding of how to prioritise work in a fast, customer-centric environment
- Understanding of agile environments, continual delivery techniques and DevOps cultures
- Understanding of how to influence stakeholders at all levels and communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences
Desirable:
- Computing degree, systems analysis qualification
- Experience mentoring technical staff and managing stakeholders
- Experience working in a dynamic organisation with rapidly evolving user needs and fast-changing requirements
- Interest in forming best practices, standards, and policies
- Experience initiating projects, participating in workshops to gather needs and prototyping
- Experience of cloud technologies
- Experience designing, implementing, and operating secure and scalable systems
- An awareness of how to budget in an on-demand environment
