API Management Technical Architect - Glasgow

A global consultancy requires a technical architect with hands on experience of API Management solutions and integration patterns using API Gateways (internal micro and external edge gateways). The Architect will be required to lead on series of workshops to define the requirements for procurement of an API Management Platform.

Location

The Architect is required to work in Glasgow at least 3 days per week, with the remainder being home-based or working out of the Newcastle office as required.

Responsibilities

  • Finalise API Management Strategy and Roadmap with input from Technology teams
    • Completed API Management Strategy paper;
    • Detailed Roadmap for implementing the API Management Strategy and API Platform
  • Define the capabilities required for an API Platform
    • Capability Matrix outlining priority of each to SLC
    • Evaluation of API Platform products to defined Capabilities
  • Define the requirements for procurement of an API Platform
    • Prioritised Requirements Matrix
    • Evaluation Criteria for Scoring
  • Define a logical order of migration of legacy services to use API Platform e.g. New Demands, Policy changes affecting integration
    • Outline Delivery / Migration Roadmap
    • Identification of candidate system for migration

Experience Required:

  • Expert in API Management Platform capabilities and how they meet customer needs
  • AWS - specifically around VPCs and API Gateway implementations
  • Ability to lead workshops to drive out product selection and migration approaches.
  • Defining a roadmap for API Management Platform implementations
  • Working with key stakeholders across all technology areas to elicit requirements and alignment of API Platform capabilities
  • Contribution to business cases to API Platform procurement in terms of cost benefit and potential investment areas
  • API platforms and vendors within the marketplace
  • Enterprise integration patterns and tooling (API Gateways - Apigee, Mulesoft, Tyk, AWS API Gateway, etc…)
  • Web services design and/or development - SOAP / REST
  • Working with software delivery partners in a multi-vendor environment.
  • Working under an Agile project delivery framework
  • Delivering application migrations from on-premises to public cloud providers using re-platforming techniques (such as adoption of PaaS capabilities)
  • Design and/or development of applications that use asynchronous messaging systems for integration.
