Global Insurtech / Fintech currently seeks a Systems Administrator / DevOps Engineer to be primarily responsible for build, configuration and support of development and production environments within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Computing Services environment.

The Systems Administrator / DevOps Engineer will work within a team and assist with the build, configuration, installation and deployment of new environments using scripts that you create yourself to automate processes. You will manage code deployments and full software application releases and create documentation as required. You will also be responsible for DR and Business Continuity Management processes.

Using a range of tools at your disposal you will build Linux environments on Ubuntu or CentOS and use Puppet to automate scaled deployments. Automation of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) environments will be undertaken using Terraform. Configuration of Apache and Nginx web servers and deployment of code within containerised environments will also be undertaken using Kubernetes and Docker with automation undertaken with Jenkins. Your role will be both assisting in the preparation of environments to which code is deployed and a number of Sys Admin tasks undertaken for production environments including patch management.

We are searching for a Systems Administrator / DevOps Engineer / Linux Sys Admin / AWS Infrastructure Engineer who has ideally gained significant experience within large-scale enterprise environments in both a DevOps and Sys Admin capacity. You will be comfortable building Linux environments with Ubuntu and/or CentOS and have solid shell scripting abilities for both code and application deployments and server management in production. You will have worked within environments employing containerisation approaches using a range of cutting edge technologies including Packer, Docker, Vault, Consul etc. You will also be familiar with a range of monitoring tools, and related tech, such as ELK, Prometheus, Icinga etc. Experience with Puppet and/or Terraform would be desirable as would experience of certificate management although non-essential.

Essentially, you will be a SysAdmin/DevOps Engineer who is capable of building and maintaining AWS environments and deploying code and updates in an efficient and structured fashion. You will be comfortable liaising with the inhouse client support teams (not directly with clients) and be keen to continue driving forward the technical environments testing new tools and approaches as they emerge.

Very stable environment, excellent opportunity. Initial 6 month contract inside IR35. Fully remote role during the pandemic with flexible working practices post-return-to-office (1-2 days per week; City of London).
